USA Preview: 11/19 Edition (Halo, Assassin's Creed, SM3DL) - News

by Miles Taven , posted on 25 November 2011 / 7,854 Views

For the purposes of this article, all data used is preliminary and may differ from final numbers.

First of all, you may notice this is now the USA preview, so doesn't include data from Mexico, Canada, Latin America, etc.

Assassin's Creed: Revelations
was the highest debut this week with over 1.1 million units sold and a 60% share on the X360. Halo Combat Evolved: Anniversary managed over 600,000 units, slightly low for a Halo but it is a remake. Saints Row: The Third debuted to over 520,000 units on the X360 (65%) and PS3 (35%).

Super Mario 3D Land
put in just under 300,000 units, with the new Need for Speed just under 280,000 units, the X360 version saw the most sales but the ratio was much closer than your typical game. Lastly, Disney Kinect only mustered 60,000 units, but should do well over the holidays.

Last week's highest entry, Modern Warfare 3, scored over 850,000 units in its second week.

can't believe NFS the run outsold Hot Pursuit, guess quality doesn't matter to the NFS crowd.

Where are the numbers? I want to see Super Mario 3D Land raise eyebrows and quiet haters.

I at last bought a CoD game for the first time (MW3) just to see why 26M+ gamers buy it every year, and I'm very mixed : the physics engine is better than in Halo (there's tons of weapons acting very differently, shooting accuracy is better, etc.) BUT it is so boring and uninteresting to play... I see MW3 as a "RPG-FPS", when you start at level 0 and have bad weapons, you get XP even if you're 8th/8, unlock a bazillion things when getting levels, etc. All is done to push kids (that's definitely a kids' game) playing to get a better arsenal... I think psychologists must have been hired to create this game ! That's just a game that reward and reward and reward... Halo is far more fun and competitive IMO. Anyway, I still play MW3 for a while longer (i don't like to waste my money)...

I really wanted Skyrim and Uncharted numbers. MW3 has a huge drop (people are finally starting reliese COD is the same game over and over again) Halo sales were better than I expected it should do pretty good and I have nothing to say about AC and NFS the run

Seece enrageorange (on 25 November 2011)

Typically, about 87%, but obviously that fluctuates at different times of the year and different games ect.

Damn Halo: CEA is going to be lucky to crack 1 million :/

I think they would've moved more units had they not offered the map pack the same day. I get why they did it, because it really is a fan service releases, but if they would've released the maps for DL separately in like 6 weeks, they'd have sold more. But credit to 343/MS for not trying to bleed the Halo fans dry and giving them as much or as little as they wanted.

It will easly crack 1million. That doesn't include either Canada&Latin Amerika + EMEAA

60-40 range is pretty typical now for any releases that aren't historically tied heavily to a platform in some way, isn't it? COD and Skyrim are pretty close to that too.

MW3 has had a larger drop apparantly, not holding up as well.

This late into the generation, a lot of games are becoming very front loaded. People know what to expect from a new Call of Duty, why bother waiting? Will be interesting to see where MW3 ends up.
