Return to San Andreas for Grand Theft Auto V?
by Jake Weston, posted on 26 October 2011 / 3,856 ViewsSpeculation came abound when Rockstar officially announced Grand Theft Auto V, the next entry in the long-running crime series. Of course, most of the speculation came in the form of wondering just where the next numbered game would take place: Boston? London? Moscow?
Well, it looks like we have our answer. According to Kotaku, a source close to the game has stated that Grand Theft Auto V will take place in Los Angeles, or at least a fictionalized version of it.
Los Angeles represents familiar territory for Rockstar, having created a version of it in 2004's Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, as well as this year's L.A. Noire, which meticulously depicted the city in a 1940's setting. Without an official announcement from Rockstar though, this is still in the rumor category, albeit a fairly likely one.
Earlier this year, I joked with my friend about how it would be funny if Rockstar used L.A. Noire's design for Los Angeles in future titles. Well, provided this rumor's validity, it looks like this might end up being the truth.
What do you think about a return to L.A. for Grand Theft Auto? Let us know in the comments!
