Heavy Rain - Motion Controller Announcement Incoming? - News

by VGChartz Staff , posted on 15 February 2010 / 2,975 Views

David Cage, the boss over at Quantic Dream, has recently hinted at Heavy Rain supporting Sony's Motion Controller.

In a recent interview it was hinted at heavily, and we could see an announcement pretty soon.

"If you are talking about Motion Control, this is something we initially considered for Heavy Rain."

"The very first version of the game design was based on motion control, but it was not feasible at the time. But all the controls of the final version of Heavy Rain is still based on motion."

"I have a lot of interest in Sony's motion device and there is a good chance that we announce something about it in the coming weeks."

So... Heavy Rain + Motion Control = Happy Gamers? It's easy to see how the game could work using motion controls, and it already has some form of motion control thanks to the SIXAXIS.

Heavy Rain is releasing on February 23rd, and the Sony Motion Controller is set for release later this year.

@ Metallicube...no more of a "gimmick" then a racing wheel for a driving game. The motion controls would likely be more intuitive then the Dual Shock Controller.

Thinking about how this would affect gameplay makes me wanna play the demo again!

Finally there would be a game where using motion controls fit in the whole game and gameplay.

"Lyrikalstylez says:
I think this game would better be suited for Natal, I suppose shaking a dildo looking peripheral for the juice sequence would seem a bit awkward in my opinion!!

And the great thing about Son'y's motion control is you can do motion controls with or without a controller. Sony Arc is both Natal Lite, and Wii Motion+.

There is a lot more to the Arc then shaking it like a dildo, I played the Demo and loved it, from what I have read and seen regarding the PS Ars it will work very well with Heavy Rain, and I look forward to it.

Wow, I didn't think i'd ever want a motion controller, but... actually I would buy it for this game (if they were released at the same time).

I think it'll be a new game, but then again, he could just be talking about how you move the controller up and down, etc. to do motions in the game (ex: brushing the character's teeth).

Didn't Sony have some sort of motion control in the SixAxis?
Could this be what we being talked about?

heavy rain seems like a good fit for motion controls but to me the way things are phrased it sounds more like a new/different project to me.

Probably a patch I'd guess. Adding the code to allow for Arc input to the existing game.

I think they could probably just do an update for Motion Control to work, since the game was designed with it in mind in the first place.
