With the evolution of the graphics from simple dots to actual 3D characters, it was only logical that, given the big percentage of males in their teens/twenties that make up the gaming population, developers would try to cater to one of their most primitive desires. In this top 10, we'll be taking a look at the women players are more likely to find attractive when playing a game.

10. Mitsuru (Persona 3)

Mitsuru is for anyone wanting a anime girl in school outfit. The good thing of the game is that you don’t need to imagine a romance between your character and her, should you want it, you can pursue a relationship with her. Besides, how can you not like her red hair and “bossy” attitude?

9. Silvya Christel (No More Heroes)

Here’s one that not only is attractive, but also she knows that the player finds her attractive. Teasing Travis, the main character, and in consequence the gamer, at every possible chance, Sylvia knows to make herself desired. It only boosts her appeal that image promoting the game where she appears in bikini taking a sunbathe.

8. Tifa (Final Fantasy VII)

Many of those who were introduced to JRPGs by FF7 have fond memories of this character and her longer-than-normal legs. She looked even better in the gorgeous FMVs, and subsequent installments of the FF7 compilation have only increased her popularity. One just needs to take a look at her fighting with her trademark knuckles in Advent Children to know why she’s that popular.

7. Chun Li (Street Fighter)

Chun Li, whose name means “spring beauty”, was one of the first women in the videogame world to break the cliché of “captured girlfriend”, to become a true protagonist of the game. This made her popularity to grow steadily, and thus it became the norm to include girls in games. Therefore, this list exists partially thanks to the path that this classy combatant opened for the rest of the girls. Her scene in the shower is one of the hottest moments in the animated Street Fighter II film, and her legs are without a doubt one of the best in the videogame universe, even though her hands left a lot to be desired in SFIV.

6. Asuka (Tekken)

A personal favorite of mine, Asuka is your standard “fist-fighting Japanese high-school teenager”…ok, that’s not a standard, but that’s Asuka. And she obviously can defend herself pretty well (she’s Jin’s cousin after all), and managing to look gorgeous while she’s at it.

5. Ivy (Soul Calibur)

There’s one attribute of Ivy that’s immediately notable for everyone, and I don’t think I have to tell you which it is. She also has a quite revealing outfit. And yes, her weapon is kinda like a whip. She doesn’t quite fit my character, but I can imagine that for some gamers it’s like a dream realized in videogame form.

4. Jeane (Suikoden)

It kinda tells something when the beauty of the woman is not only acknowledged by gamers, but by every single character in the game as well. Jeane’s beauty (and also her apparent lack of aging, since she looks the same in games that happen more than 150 years apart) has been a recurrent joke in Suikoden games, with people going to the shop of this beautiful runemistress just to take a look at her, and investigators failing to get any insight on her because they’re too charmed by her beauty. With every game, Jeane has become more and more “gifted”, leaving gamers wondering on how she’ll appear in an upcoming Suikoden VI….we can only hope

3. Samus (Metroid)

Gunpei Yokoi left us with our jaws dropped in the NES era, it was a revelation that would surprise the world, a legendary beauty that was forged in the 8-bit pixels, Samus Aran. Thanks to her Power Suit, the fragility of this chick is hidden behind several metal layers and devastating weapons; revealing only her body when she’s wearing her Zero suit, which turned on a lot of people when she was introduced in Super Smash Bros. Who wouldn’t want to receive a “Screw Attack” from her?

2. Lara (Tomb Raider)

It only makes sense for Lara to be so high, given that she started a couple of trends, namely the popularization of female lead characters (started by Samus), and the infamous “nude patch”, that allowed gamers to…you can imagine the rest. Plus, she was carried on to the big screen by none other than Angelina Jolie, that’s definitely a plus

1. Kasumi (Dead or Alive)

A ninja with red hair. How often do you see that? Tecmo knew that Kasumi (along with the other females in the DoA crew) had caught the interest of male gamers and not only for their combos, and created a spinoff (Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball) so that gamers that enjoyed seeing her fight as a ninja could see her in a more revealing attire….playing volley. And, with an illegal patch to your volleyball game, you don’t even have to imagine that corset isn’t there! Just like Lara, the DoA spinoff was subject of another popular nude patch. Yet, patch or not, it’s a testament of her hotness that someone went and made that. For having not only the patch but a direct series dedicated to promote her (along with her fighting companions) sex appeal, we get our number one for this list

And here it is. Of course, you're free to disagree, since beauty is subjective. But this are who, in our opinion, really stand out from the female videogame crowd.

Nariko was a very good call actually, a female lead character that was exceptionally acted, voiced and directed without many of the typical stereotypes in gaming. The very fact that she had a back story deeper than a puddle should have given her a shot at top spot.

I find it kind of amusing that, despite saying it was simply their opinion, that there are still those getting bent out of shape because the female they believe is best looking isn't on the list.

Zuvuyeay said it best: there are a lot of very attractive video game women out there. Chances are good that this list wasn't going to have nearly all (or perhaps any) of the women you find appealing.

Personally, I find Ivy to be less than attractive. And yeah, that Chun Li picture really doesn't do her any justice. But get a dozen people making a list like this, you'll get a dozen completely different lists.
