Square Enix announced it will be changing the Japanese voice for Olaf in Kingdom Hearts III following the arrest of voice actor Pierre Taki. He was arrested for allegedly using cocaine.

It's silly that they think they have to change a voice actor because he broke the law, Imagine if hollywood or the music industry started doing this, they would be out of business lol. It's not as if anyone knows the voice actor or cares about a victim-less crime anyway. But I always wondered why Olaf was covered in white powder XD

Disney already does this. Two voice actors in their shows were replaced after sexual misconduct accusations (and one show ended a year before the VA was changed). They're probably behind this change as well.

It is Olaf we're talking about I suppose. So it's a lot more understandable than it would be if it was pretty much any other type of game. That said, it's not like Disney's pure when it comes to this stuff. Robin Williams pretty much popularized the (unfortunate) business of big-named actors doing animated voices when he ran away with Aladdin and he had a nasty cocaine addiction before he partied one night with John Belushi only for him to OD the next morning. Not to mention the MCU is built on Robert Downey Jr.. A guy I long knew had the charisma and talent to be at the height of Hollywood but couldn't keep it together.

Why is Japan so incredibly hostile towards drug users? As in, even a rumor of drug use can be career ending over there. It's an interesting cultural thing you don't really see in the west... I can't imagine how much cocaine has been involved in the creation of my favorite shows, movies, and games lol
