Analyst: PS5 and Next Gen Xbox to be Announced at E3 2020 - News
by William D'Angelo , posted on 01 March 2019 / 3,497 ViewsIDC analyst Lewis Ward speaking with GamingBolt predicts Microsoft and Sony will announce their next generation consoles at E3 2020.
"Not if 2019 gets a modest hardware refresh, as I expect from Microsoft and Sony, and sees a middle-of-the-road slate of AAA exclusives," said Ward. "If the plan is to give this assumed hardware refresh two years of runway before next-gen systems arrive, then 2020’s E3 is when Sony and Microsoft will be unveiling their new systems."
Ward believes the next generation Xbox and PlayStation 5 will be more traditional and not a hybrid like the Nintendo Switch.
"I’m thinking PS5 and the next-gen Xbox won’t have built-in screens and will have disc drives," he said.

You know Microsoft is going to mess with people and call it something like Xbox 6.
The Xbox 69
They'll call it the X-Box. X will stand for the roman number 10. Their mid gen upgrade will be called the XI-Box, and the slim model will be the XII-Box, just to add to the confusion.
Only if theres a meaning behind it. One thing i like about Nintendo and Xbox is that there creative with there names.
Sounds right to me, unless one of them decides to get the jump on the other with an early announcement.
Yes, Sony just gonna sit there quietly for 1 and a half year.
AMD confirmed big sales numbers forecast for there APUs in 2020 so its basically official.
Yes that is quite the expected date due to sales curve at this moment. Unless either of them decides to do like this gen and make an early announcement.
2021 put ps4 in way to beat ps2 life time sales.
It is almost impossible to beat PS2.
Well a PS4 SS and Pro S in 2019, with a worthy price drop, could possibly keep sales from declining too much into the future. A next gen XB in 2019, which is probably unlikely, could steal enough thunder to contribute to a PS4 sales slump though. Even if new PS4 slim models arrive this year unchallenged, outselling PS2 is really unlikely. It could in a best case scenario, come within reaching distance potentially, and that would in itself deserve a similar amount of praise that the PS2 receives.
