The official Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter account in a tweet teased a new game in the series will be announced soon.

"We’ve updated our Privacy Policy. As part of our ongoing efforts to prepare for our new game announcement, as well as release Sonic Mania Adventures Part 3 this month," reads the third panel in the comic shown in the Tweet.

Before people get too... excited? (do people still get excited about Sonic game announcements?), this could be the Sonic racing game that we know nothing about.
It most likely is. But I liked Sonic All Stars Racing, and I'd be up for a Sonic Racing (no karts/cars) game.
Well those are pretty good, so.I would say those are the only Sonic games to get excited about these days alongside 2D sonic games.
StriderKiwi, This is part of the reason I've been delaying getting MK8D for as long as I can. That, and the fact that I feel a bit burned paying $60 for a game I already spent $72 and over 100 hours over the course of a few years.
