Microsoft has revealed the Xbox division earned $2.251 billion during the quarter that ended March 31, 2018. That is up from $1.906 billion last year, an 18 percent increase year-over-year.

Monthly active Xbox Live users increase 13 percent year-over-year from 52 million last year to 59 million this year. It is also essentially flat quarter-over-quarter.

"Xbox Live [had] continued growth across Xbox One, Windows 10, and mobile platforms," reads Microsoft’s earnings press release. "Gaming revenue increased 18 percent driven by Xbox software and services revenue growth of 24 percent mainly from third party title strength."

The third party title is Fortnite. A game that has quickly become one of the most popular in recent months.

Sea of Thieves was also the fastest-selling Rare game since at least 1995 with more than one million players in its first days.

Microsoft is increasing investments in gaming as operating expenses grew five percent last quarter.

Would be even more pleased if they put more specific numbers and the gaming was talking only about X1.

What are they turning around? They’re basically back to we’re they were before the Scorpio announcement.

SOT must have not done that well if they are attributing their revenue increase to 3rd party SW.

Even more strange is that they are listing Fortnite as biggest push instead of PUBG...

Well they did mention SoT but Fortnite was just better. I remember when they showed Fortnite on stage at E3 and many thought it would do nothing for them.

Azzanation still on the era of confusing revenue with profit and also not even seeing context.

After the Scorpio announcement XBox One sales tanked and it was basically outsold by 3:1 for most of 2017.
