This is just based on the retail after the first week, digital and the 6 weeks since launch are going to push this way up further than this ratio.

This falls in line nicely with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Breath of the Wild. It was outsold by Breath of the Wild by 50k and by 130k for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. All things considered, this game will probably go on to be one of the best selling games in Nintendo history. 10+ mil should be easy as long as the legs are there for Japan and decent in America. I would even go as far as to say it will easily outsell Mario Kart 8 on the Wii U by lifetime sales.

(And if Mario Kart 8 on Switch outsell it's Wii U counterpart, it will outsell that version too).

Those are insane sales, for such a small hardware count to begin with. And to think that Splatoon has risen to the levels of Zelda etc. as a beloved IP, in just one generation! That really impresses me more than anything else about this franchise!!

Haven't played Splatoon 1 or 2 yet. I've seen people play it like Vinesauce, Etika, etc. and it looks like something that would end what's left of my social life so I'll stay away for now.
