SuperData: Nintendo Switch has Sold 1.5 Million Units Worldwide - News

The Nintendo Switch has sold an estimated 1.5 million units worldwide, according to market research firm SuperData.

The figure includes numbers from Famitsu and GfK. SuperData estimates 500,000 units have been sold in the US, 360,000 units in Japan and just below that in Europe. 85,000 units have been sold in the UK and 110,000 units in France. Most of the figures were for the first week on sale, so the numbers will be even higher now.

89 percent of Switch owners have purchased The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. That comes out to around 1.34 million units sold. That does not include the Wii U version.

Nintendo has previously stated it plans to ship two million Switch units in March.

The Nintendo Switch launched on March 3.

Obv the more they sell the better but the real test of the "hype" or how much people want the console will come around the 3-4 milion department, its still quite easy to pick up in The Netherlands, stores get new supplies daily it seems but they do still sell out, Zelda is powerfull!

Not a hater but just as a reminder, Wii U sold 3 million units in its first quarter. It's a marathon not a sprint, but they're off to a good start.

True but you also need to take into account that the Wii U was launched during the holiday shopping season so its numbers were inflated but quickly trailed off. Switch is doing holiday-like numbers in the middle of March, which is much more impressive especially if sales remain strong through the traditionally slow spring and summer months for video games.

They're just posting news. That's all. No need to get all excited.

They usually do well at launch. Hopefully they stay above 100k a week in the Summer

The website in general is the worst thing about VGC, without mentioning numbers are a month late

I'm confused as to whether it's Nintendo haters or fanboys who are downvoting me?

Probably fanboys who think you are implying the sales are nothing special and normal for any launch

The number seems disappointing -- unless if Nintendo only shipped 1.5m on launch week and intends to ship the remaining 500k by the end of the month. If they shipped with 2m and it did not sell out, I think that Switch is on to a very bumpy ride.

Watch the sales plummet, until Mario releases.
