Gran Turismo Series Sells 76.49M Units Worldwide, Individual Sales Revealed - News

Developer Polyphony Digital revealed the Gran Turismo franchise has sold 76.49 million units worldwide as of September 30th, 2015.

"With sales totaling 76.49 million copies worldwide, Gran Turismo has become an international sensation, with strong followings in Europe and North America in particular," said the developer. "It burst onto the video game scene in 1997, steadily evolving alongside the PlayStation console, and continues to promote the enjoyment of driving to people of all ages all over the world."


Along with the total sales for the franchise is the sales for each individual title:

GT5 could still crawl past 12 million. IIRC that was my prediction back in 2010. There were so many people back then that didn't think it would even cross 10 million, and now it's the second best selling one.

I don't think its gonna 10 or 15 million without massive bundling. GT7 will however be a reflection of how much the market is still interested in sim racers though.

I prefer it this way. More hype for the 1st GT on ps4, rather than a port of a ps3 game.

remastering something like that would require going back over all of the licenses again tho, just because you get a license to use a car model in a video game, doesn't in anyway give you the rights to use that model in a more HD version of it or so, otherwise they'd never need new licenses since GT1
