Nintendo TVii Shutting Down Next Month

Nintendo TVii Shutting Down Next Month - News

by Craig S , posted on 24 July 2015 / 4,879 Views

Nintendo has announced that is shutting down its Nintendo TVii service next month, on August 11th.

Nintendo TVii could be used to browse TV shows and their listings, and also provided an access point to TV content providers such as Netflix and Amazon Prime. It also boasted Wii U GamePad support, with the GamePad offering a second screen experience.

It seems, however, that Nintendo TVii did not prove popular enough and Nintendo has now decided to move its resources on to other projects. You can access the 'End of Service' FAQs for Nintendo TVii here.

Well at least the icon isn't going to taunt me and my fellow europeans with it's uselessness anymore.

It was fun playing along with sports. But other than that? Never used it.

Ignoring it was redundant. They could of tired to preload the guide so it didn't have to buffer each time you started it up.

To be fair, they didn't do enough with it to make it memorable or worth the set up. Much like the Xbox One with kinect support it was neat not exactly a game changer like many would have hoped though.
