Report: PS4 & Xbox One Sales Disappointing in China, to Hit 550K Combined by Year's End - News

Sales for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One have been disappointing in China, according to a new report released by Asian market intelligence firm Niko Partners and reported by GamesIndustry.

The two consoles are expected to sell just 550,000 units combined by the end of the year.

Niko expects Smart TV gaming will do much better than dedicated gaming consoles in the future as Smart TVs have lower price points and more games available for them. Smart TV gaming is expected to top console gaming in China by 2019.

I'm not surprised. There was a story about each console's launch in the country when it happened, and iirc, PS4 only had 6 games approved for sale by the Chinese government, and the XB1 only had 10. You're not going to move that many systems with such a small library.

Dissapointing to who? Sony expected to sell ~200k per year iirc, so it would seem it beat their expectations. No shock here whatsoever, PC gaming is too bug in China.
