Mad Catz has announced that it will not only be creating the wireless music game controllers for Rock Band 4, but it will also be co-publishing the game with developer Harmonix.

"Mad Catz have a deep appreciation for the amazing work by Harmonix and we can’t wait to play our part in delivering Rock Band to passionate gamers everywhere!," said Mad Catz's Alex Verrey. "Co-publishing the game allows us to work closer than ever before with Harmonix, delivering a seamless experience from game through hardware and ensuring that we focus on the needs of the gamer first and foremost!"

Rock Band 4 will be released later this year for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Interesting. On guitar hero 1 and 2, Harmonix developed while red octane held the IP and made the peripherals. Then Harmonix moved on to make rock band 1-3 and made their own peripherals. Now, it looks like they've come full circle and have mad catz in place of red octane (who actually made the most durable plastic guitar ever). Hope this works out well! Rock band guitars have never been high quality before so we'll see.
