Splatoon - A Colorful New Shooter - Announced by Nintendo - News
by VGChartz Staff , posted on 10 June 2014 / 3,324 ViewsNintendo is finally heading back into the shooter genre, but in a pretty unique way.
Splatoon is the game in question, and it's due out in 2015. Splatoon puts players in charge of a kid that can turn into a squid and who can shoot an inkgun. The goal of Splatoon is not to kill enemy squid-kids, although it is a competitive third person multiplayer shooter, but rather to cover the map with as much of your team's ink as possible.
Players are able to quickly morph between being a squid - which is capable of swimming through ink, increasing your speed, and refilling your tank - and the kid, who wields the ink-based weaponry. The match is won by the team that manage to cover at least half of the map with their own ink.
It's a concept that allows Splatoon to appeal to Nintendo's family-friendly audience, while also offering a fresh approach to a genre that has continued to top the sales charts.
