iPhone Sales Jump 46% to 74.5 Million During Holiday Quarter - News

Apple had a strong holiday quarter on the back of the iPhone 6, which is their first quarter for the latest fiscal year. Apple posted revenue of $74.6 billion, which is a 30 percent increase year-over-year. Apple also posted a record profit of $18 billion, up from $13.1 billion a year ago.

iPhone sales jumped 46 percent year-over-year to 74.5 million. That sets a new record for the company. Apple said that there were 34,000 iPhones sold every hour. Apple also sold 21.4 million iPads and 5.5 million Macs.

For the second fiscal quarter, which ends on March 31, 2015, they expect revenue to be between $52 billion and $55 billion.

Apparently iPhone 6 and 6 Plus attracted more Android customers than current iPhone users. Unlike OS X and Windows, phone users don't stick with one preferred operating system.
