EA Holiday Quarter Strong, Posts Profit After Loss, Digital Sales up 34% YoY - News

Electronic Arts posted its results for the third fiscal quarter, which ended on December 31, 2014. The amount recorded is higher than they had originally expected.

Electronic Arts posted revenue was up 39 percent year-over-year to $1.13 billion on a GAAP basis. They posted a profit of $142 million, which up from from a loss of $308 million a year ago. On a non-GAAP basis revenue dropped by nine percent and profits slipped three percent.

The publishers digital sales continued to grow as they were up 34 percent year-over-year to $693 million. The majority of EA's non-GAAP revenue came from digital ($2.18 billion out of $4.34 billion) for the first time in their history.

For the full fiscal year, which ends on March 31, 2015, EA expects Digital sales to account for $2.23 billion. Also for the fourth quarter they expect profits of $353 million and revenue of $1.16 billion.
