Nintendo designer Shigeru Miyamoto has talked with the Associated Press about many topics and one of them was Star Fox for the Wii U. He stated that he focuses more on the gameplay with his games, than the story. He added that the gameplay for Star Fox will feel different, since it uses the Wii U gamepad screen.

"I like to create gameplay mechanics more than I do stories," said Miyamoto. "The story might not be too different from past Star Fox games, but the gameplay mechanics are going to feel very different because of the two-screen system of the Wii U with the GamePad and TV screen. It'll make for a very fun and unique way to play."

I am excited, really hope we see a 2015 release. He seemed pretty confident of that in the Zelda Gameplay video

Why not just have him make the gameplay and hire a professional writer?

And this is why I am not excited at all for the Wii U Star Fox. Miyamoto and those under him, don't seem to get what made the original and Star Fox 64 classics or how to expand upon those without going in some wild and often less fun alternate gameplay route. Odd given his past genius that Miyamoto when it comes to some of his past works (throwing F-Zero in there as well) he doesn't seem to have much of a clue.

Great. I'm super excited for what will very likely be yet another "Star Fox" game, utterly ruined by some stupid gimmick they slap onto it.......because god forbid that they just make what most fans want, which is a straight up sequel/follow-up to Star Fox 64. THAT is Star Fox. Not Adventures, not Assault, no Command.......Star Fox is a shooter. And with Wii U's power, it could be amazing, basically SF64 but far better, bigger game, more levels, way better graphics, etc. This control set-up he keeps mentioning, I'm sorry, sounds contrived to me. I will wait to see it in action, but I just have a really bad feeling that once AGAIN, we're going to get a SF game that is mediocre because they don't just do it the right way in the first place. "If it ain't broke, quit trying to fuckin' fix it with every iteration". shrugs
