Look at that incredible lead, and people feared the core console gaming market was dying.

Like games, I expect this gens console sales to be front-loaded.

Casual console market is the only market shrinking

All thanks to the PS4. Do an XB1/360 comparision, I bet 360 is still outselling XB1 weekly.

PS4 carrying the load. Xbox will be lucky to match last gen's numbers while PS4 is out to a faster start than PS2

Um...what? PS2 sold 16 million the first year it was available in all regions. PS4 is doing well, but I doubt it will sell much over 12 million

Michael-5 PS4 is already above 12 million and its not going to stay there for another two months.

So PS4 alone outsold both the 7th gen within that timeframe, and people still try to downplay it's sales.

Thanks. Impressive to see the gap growing even faster. Q1 2015 should be delightful too with all the crazy games that come out

This is great considering the PS4 and Xb1 are under tracked on this site by a lot now.

Include Wii and Wii U and the gap will be closer

Not sure why this would be thumbed down, the Wii dominated the 7th gen at the start of it where the Wii-u would drag down the start of the 8th gen now completely. This isn't a sign that the console market is bigger this gen it's a sign that the market increases if you take out the fastest runner from 1 race and the slowest runner from the runs total speeds look very different.

Wii attract a non-gamer audience so they don:t care very much about gaming they are happy with their wii so they don*t see a reason to buy a wiiu in other hand ps3 and xbox360 attract the same audience as ps4 and xbox one which are always hardcore gamers console gaming it:s not shrinking it just back to it:s normal size

The gap wouldn't be closer; 7th gen would be in the lead by almost 10 million units. Thankfully, it's difficult to apply Wii-U to these due to it's earlier launch, because otherwise it would make the 8th seem like it's doing poorly as a whole when we know in reality that's not the case. It's just the Wii-U that's doing bad.
