Mostly just casuals that have left the market, core gaming market is just as strong as ever.

you don't do the PS4+X1 vs PS360 anymore? It was cool :(

Hm. That's weird. The handheld graph looks very similar to the DS v. 3DS graph.

I'm actually surprised 7th and 8th gen consoles are so close, given how poorly the Wii-U has been doing, compared to it's predecessor.

Well the guess the difference is made up by the PS4 doing much better than its predecessor.

LOL at people still calling 3ds a failure. It may be not selling well compared to its predecessor, but it´s still the 2nd best seller weekly console and still is crushing Vita

Wait, if you round the home consoles' numbers to nearest ten-thousand like the handheld numbers reported, it's the exact same numbers. Are we sure these are correct?

WiiU and Vita sales, compared to their predecessors are just plain bad. 3DS's sales are actually not that bad but far from DS levels. PS4 and XB1 made gains on their predecessors. I'd say the departure of a large group of previous buyers to mobile devices and PC gaming has affected dedicated gaming consoles, especially ones who depended on casuals.

This also means the companies should start focusing on putting out good games and systems meant for gamers and should improve their systems features.

You can blame the drop on the Wii U and 3DS, but the fact that none of the 3 companies could manage to keep those consumers engaged is a failure all around. More people in the market benefits hardcore gamers.

Surely you mean, in the nicest way, 3DS -and- PSV?

You're forgetting Vita.
