340,000 People Attended Gamescom - News

Gamescom attendance set a new record this year with 340,000 attendees from 88 countries. This is a 23 percent increase over last year's show which had 275,000 attendees from 83 countries. This was the fifth annual Gamescom and the first time for a trade fair in Europe two new consoles were presented.

"This was games entertainment and business in a new dimension," said president and CEO of the Koelnmesse GmbH Gerald Böse. "The Gamescom 2013 in Cologne has clearly underlined its position as the largest games trade fair. As organisers of the fair, we are delighted about this success and would like to thank the affiliated sponsor of the Gamescom, the Federal Association of Interactive Entertainment Software (BIU) as well as the national and international exhibitors and partners."

"The Gamescom 2013 was a complete success for the consumers, manufacturers and for the market," said Managing Director of the of the BIU Dr. Maximilian Schenk. "The more than 340,000 visitors impressively underline the constantly growing relevance of digital games. The new generation of games and consoles presented at the trade fair will give the market a clear boost."

There were more than 635 exhibitors from 40 countries and more than 6,000 journalists from 61 countries covered the event. Destiny also won the best game of the Gamescom 2013 award.
