The UK newspaper The Times is reporting that Sony will sell the PlayStation 4 for £300 at launch in the UK. To compare the PlayStation 3 launched at £425 in the UK.

"Industry sources and leaked internal documents suggest that Sony is considering pricing the new device at about £300, more than £100 cheaper than the starting cost of its predecessor, the PlayStation 3," read the report.

Sony is expected to unveil the PlayStation 4 this Wednesday, February 20, at an event in New York City.

MonstaMack (on 18 February 2013)

Better then five hundred and ninety nine U S dollars

DanneSandin (on 18 February 2013)

Marcus: that's roughly $460! So I bet it'll cost $400 in the US and that Sony will take a hit per sold console...

Aprisaiden (on 18 February 2013)

For reference 300 pounds is 250 pounds once you remove the VAT or ~ $390 USD. This falls inline with the $399 / $399 Euro price expected.

binary solo (on 18 February 2013)

My understanding is that price includes sales tax, so to compare to US you need to consider the local sales tax situation. So 300GBP incl tax would probably equate to 400USD MSRP.

NobleTeam360 (on 18 February 2013)

So 400 is the price we should expect in the USA?

ganoncrotch (on 18 February 2013)

at that price I dread psn will cost money for any kind of online play akin to xbox live gold.

MARCUSDJACKSON (on 18 February 2013)

Why??
Online services have never been subsidised by revenue from hardware. Sony already have a paid service in PS Plus, whats more likely is that new improvements to psn such as streaming will be exclusive to ps plus.

I really hope this is true. This would also most likely mean a 399$ US price.

sepisfu (on 18 February 2013)

great price if this is true, i think on 400 they are loosing money but who knows

Nem (on 18 February 2013)

I have my doubt. That isnt alot more expensive than the Wii U. So, either Sony will sell it at a loss and risk bankrupcy or the console wont be as powerful as some people think.

Araknie (on 18 February 2013)

At that price i can't be that much more powerful of the PS3, it's not gonna be a jump like PS2 to PS3. That's why i don't believe in that pricing.

MARCUSDJACKSON (on 18 February 2013)
