Sony is expected to unveil the PlayStation 4 this Wednesday, February 20, at an event in New York City.

Marcus: that's roughly $460! So I bet it'll cost $400 in the US and that Sony will take a hit per sold console...

For reference 300 pounds is 250 pounds once you remove the VAT or ~ $390 USD. This falls inline with the $399 / $399 Euro price expected.

My understanding is that price includes sales tax, so to compare to US you need to consider the local sales tax situation. So 300GBP incl tax would probably equate to 400USD MSRP.

So 400 is the price we should expect in the USA?

Why??
Online services have never been subsidised by revenue from hardware. Sony already have a paid service in PS Plus, whats more likely is that new improvements to psn such as streaming will be exclusive to ps plus.

I really hope this is true. This would also most likely mean a 399$ US price.

I have my doubt. That isnt alot more expensive than the Wii U. So, either Sony will sell it at a loss and risk bankrupcy or the console wont be as powerful as some people think.

Araknie (on 18 February 2013)

At that price i can't be that much more powerful of the PS3, it's not gonna be a jump like PS2 to PS3.
That's why i don't believe in that pricing.
