Blockbuster Administrators Deloitte has announced that it will be closing another 164 stores. This brings the total number of store closures to 324. This leaves about 200 stores remaining open. The Administrators are hoping to find a buyer for the remaining stores.

"We have continued to review the performance of individual stores since our appointment a month ago and have concluded that further closures are necessary in order to restructure the Company for sale," said Joint Administrator Lee Manning.

"We would like to thank the company’s employees for their support and professionalism during this difficult time and we are also grateful for the continued support of customers," added Manning. "We are in discussions with a number of parties interested in purchasing all or parts of the business and will update on progress in due course."

Why are they even open still. Just shut down already. Nothing will bring back in store renting...

Honestly, I prefer in-store renting. You have a ton more choices to go through than a Red Box, plus the quality is superior to streaming.

Sucks to be laid off but hopefully the former employees will find a better job.

Why the hell are people still renting stuff from movie stores anyways nowadays. With all the tech that's out now, Blockbuster and others should have completely closed YEARS ago.
