NBA 2K11 Cover Athlete: Michael Jordan? - News
by VGChartz Staff , posted on 27 May 2010 / 8,385 ViewsAccording to ESPN, multiple sources have verified that basketball legend Michael Jordan has signed on to be the NBA 2K11 cover athlete, despite the fact that he hasn't actually played professional basketball for years. (He's the owner of the Charlotte Bobcats now, ya know.) This will be not only the first time that the NBA 2K series has used a former player instead of a current star on its cover, but also their first time featuring an owner on the box.
MJ apparently beat out other forerunners like LeBron James and Derrick Rose to nab the starring role. There is also speculation that he will be digitized into a playable character for the game, and, on top of that, there are whispers of signing other Jordan-era athletes (both teammates and opponents) to recreate some of the classic Bulls rivalries. Larry Bird? Yes please! However, each player would need to sign over their likeness individually, so it remains to be seen if there's the time/drive/money to get an entire classic roster of yesterday's powerhouses in time for release.
An official announcement/confirmation/details of NBA 2K11 is set for E3.

I care that the multiple game stopping bugs in MyPlayer mode get fixed !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That was my problem with 2K9. I haven't even tried 2K10 yet, because I hated 2K9 so much. I refuse to pay full price for any of these sports games now. If I can get them for under $30, I'm happy.
The only player close to Jordan is Kobe Bryant. He even shoots like Jordan. I swear he mirrored Jordan's moves, because he has the same fade-away, pull up jumper and cross-over moves. The only things he doesn't do like Jordan is 1) Play defense 2) Dunk 3) Do reverse layups. Like Jordan, Bryant can get HOT and take over a game at anytime. I still don't understand why they want Jordan on the cover.
I think we all agree he is the best Athlete ever, hands down. I hope they use him on a great way in the game. It might be a sure buy me if that´s the case.
@V-r0cK
I guess you don't wathc basketball. Kobe gets cheered almost everywhere, including Madison Square Garden, just like Jordan.
Im now interested.
There's nobody else like Jordan. I've yet to see another athlete where fans of the other team he's playing against would still cheer for him instead.
@TauKappaNASA
OK then.
So now I don't really know why he's on the cover lol
@savior x, he was drafted in 1984
This is day one for me!
Wow, i'll be buying 2 basketball games this year when the last one was in the SNES era! (the other being NBA Jam... I like my 90ies revival :p)
I think I might have to buy this...
I think it makes some type of sense. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Jordan was drafted to the NBA in 1986; ~25 years ago.
I figure to celebrate the milestone they put him on the cover.
if this is confirmed, day 1 purchase
WTF? 2Ksports makes me buy NBA 2K10 because Kobe Bryant's on the cover, now I have to buy NBA2K11 -_-
Thats Awesome, Im gonna Love Schooling Lebron "Boohoo" James with M.J.
at least this confirms that MJ is back on the 90' East LEgends team...
ohh might have to buy
Maybe they will have "classic" rosters from different eras for each team. Not just Jordan, but all the greats. That would be really cool. Return of the Detroit Bad Boys! :-P

i'm gonna buy a sports game for the first time in 5 years if this happens.
jordan = win.
I think I might have to buy this...
Why? How will he be incorporated into the game? They are going to use his Chicago Bull Jordan from the 90's. Doesn't make sense. Will they have Bird, Magic, Pippen and the rest of the best in this game as well? I'm confused on this move.
