Aaron Greenberg tweeted they are doing trailers in movie theaters, media campaigns, out of home advertising, etc. I haven't seen anything personally. I wasn't expecting them to advertise it like they would with a new Halo game, but I was hoping it would have started a month ago. https://twitter.com/aarongreenberg/status/1786404465597469077

It's still relatively quiet when considering that this was THE headlining title when Xbox announced the Series X.

That tweet is almost 2 weeks old now. I haven't seen anything. I'm shocked the game releases in a few days. What kind of marketing strategy is this????

Save money, cannibalise sales.

Lets be honest, outside of the graphics I believe it was stated its a 5 hour game. Its AA at best and its not the game you really going to spend a lot of money advertising. I believe the game is being sold for 50 bones. At best the first game was more art house then GOD of War and there is nothing about this second game that seems to change the situation. This game is not going to drive Hardware sales nor GP subs but it should be a nice addition to the system.

Also has no physical edition, which can also be detrimental.
Kinda feeling like this has been put out to die.

And then Ninja Theory will probably be the next studio to close at Xbox when/if it flops, even though Xbox themselves would be to blame for practically shadow dropping it onto Gamepass, just like HiFi Rush.

That’s appears to be the overriding assumption. And it feels like it by design at this point, with the inevitable poor sales planned to be used as justification.

If Ninja Theory is going to be dropped because of Hellblade then they already on the chopping block. There is no way this short art house experience game was ever going to sell very much. MS isn't charging full 70 bones for it and there is nothing about the game that screams AAA. Its a AA game with pretty graphics that was loved by a select few but no where is it setting anyone expectations its going to ignite MS hardware or GP woes.

HB2 is not even in the top 200 on steam charts. It's a disaster

  • 0

Last I checked it was 186 but yeah that's still not good

  • 0

Thanks for the update. The number moves around a lot. The lack of marketing means either the game isn't that good, MS doesn't value the titles ability to push GP subscriptions or MS doesn't have the extra budget to pay for the marketing

  • 0

Yeah and it's such a shame. Ninja theory is a very talented developer

  • +1

Why are people acting like this is a big game? It's certainly not something that would push game pass subscriptions or move any substantial number of consoles . Why would you expect them to spend a bunch of money advertising it?

Hardstuck-Platinum VAMatt (on 14 May 2024)

Why bother? So you don't end up with your games ranked 186 on the sellers list on steam. Just because it's not TES, fallout or COD doesn't mean that it's ok to be down in 186 on the charts

  • 0
SanAndreasX VAMatt (on 15 May 2024)

Why did they buy the studio in the first place? They ostensibly knew Ninja Theory's history when they bought them. Seems kind of like they're pissing money away when they buy studios just to send games out to die.

VAMatt SanAndreasX (on 15 May 2024)

Not spending money marketing a mid-tier AA game is just normal. Most games of this level would receive very little marketing, relative to a AAA blockbuster. They're not sending it out to die.

Hardstuck-Platinum VAMatt (on 16 May 2024)

It's at 160 on the steam charts! Just because it's not a AAA blockbuster doesn't mean that it didn't cost a lot of money to make and it doesn't matter if the game doesn't sell. It is 100% being sent out to die

Damn I bought lords of the fallen a few months ago, should have just waited.

Well, I'm sure CI games appreciates your contribution! Besides, it's a great, great game that deserves your support, not a free download from gamepass!

Ninja Theory gets bought by Microsoft,
Releases garbage multiplayer and then a 5 - 8 hour game in the time since being acquired,

Definitely next in the chopping blocks
