GTA VI to 'Set Creative Benchmarks for the Series, Our Industry, And for All Entertainment' - News
by William D'Angelo , posted on 09 August 2022 / 2,876 ViewsTake-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick in a financial update made mention of the next Grand Theft Auto game, which currently has no official name. The development on the game is still "well underway."
"With development of the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series well underway, the Rockstar Games team is determined to once again set creative benchmarks for the series, our industry, and for all entertainment, just as the label has done with every one of their frontline releases," said Zelnick via PCGamer.
Other than the fact the next Grand Theft Auto game is in development not much is known about the game. There is a rumor that game will have a playable female protagonist and it is set fictional version of Miami and its surrounding areas. The female protagonist is Latina and is one of two leading characters in a story that was influenced by the bank robbers Bonnie and Clyde.

Man, I want to make some snarky 'yeah sure, whatever you say' comment...but when has Rockstar not done something bold and new and set new benchmarks for game quality and the medium as a whole? I don't even like Take Two as a company and my respect for Rockstar as a team has nosedived but like...I'm sorry, but GTA III, Vice City, San Andreas, IV, and V have all been massive successes that pushed the limits of what we could do all while getting immensely high review scores. The same can be said for Red Dead Redemption 1 and 2.
I didn't LOVE Grand Theft Auto V, but I still have 3 copies of it on PS3, PS4, and PS5. (Got it for a mega discount on PS4 and it was like 10 bucks on PS5 so why not?) Red Dead Redemption II is among my all-time favourite games.
So yeah, I want to be snarky and derisive of comments like these but their track record for successful, well-loved games speaks for itself. I'm excited, even if I know I need to be particularly critical of the company's business practices.
The reason for skepticism--if that's how a person felt--is justified because the leadership has completely changed. The people who were behind GTA's best moments are gone. And if the rumors of being "socially conscious" are even remotely true, you can bet the product is going to be drastically different... as GTA's hook was always being the edgy, politically incorrect, antiestablishment thing.
But even if you ignored all that, when a company comes out before the game is released and starts talking about how it's going to revolutionize the industry, and how great they are etc... that's probably enough to be skeptical in and of itself. lol
It went downhill after rdr1. Both gta5 ansd rdr2 didn't live up to the hype. I was considerinf givinf rdr2 another crack, bud sadly they won't release a 60 fps patch for ps5.
I’ll look forward to playing this circa 2027.
Don't rush them.
Sorry, 2034 then.
Such a masturbatory statement. The jump between the PS2 GTAs and GTA IV was HUGE but I personally don't think the jump between IV and V was that big. So I don't expect to be amazed by VI, specially since their focus will (probably) be on the multiplayer and monetizing it.
Nah.
Without lazlow and the houser brothers working together, the game just won't be the same.
Why only 1 female characters?
