by William D'Angelo , posted on 12 December 2021 / 1,896 ViewsDeveloper Quantic Dream and Lucasfilm Games during The Game Awards 2021 announced Star Wars Eclipse. It is an action adventure game set in the High Republic era.
Video game insider Tom Henderson claims the game is three or four years away at a minimum and is being written by Quantic Dream Paris and that "David Cage is very much involved."
Henderson says Star Wars Eclipse developer Quantic Dream Paris is currently struggling with hiring employees.
There are over 60 job openings at Quantic Dream Paris and nine at Quantic Dream Montreal. You can see the list of job openings here.
The biggest on the dev side is their internal QD engine, which wasn't built for an open-world title.

Here is an overview of the game:
Star Wars Eclipse is the first video game to be set in an uncharted region of the Outer Rim during The High Republic era, known as the golden age of the Jedi. The game will build upon Quantic Dream’s expertise in delivering deeply branching narratives and will go beyond their already established acclaim. Player’s choices will be at the heart of the experience, as every decision can have a dramatic impact on the course of the story.
Crafted by a diverse team of writers, game creators, and interactive storytelling experts, all with a deep affinity for the Star Wars franchise, Star Wars Eclipse will feature new places to explore through untold stories with unique characters, each with their own path, abilities, and roles to play.
Star Wars Eclipse is currently in early development in Paris, France, and Montreal, Canada and will be published globally by Quantic Dream. The team is recruiting in both locations for top talents in the world to work on this exciting new project.

Why did they feel the need to announce it already?
might as well announce breath of the wild 3, Fallout 5, next halo, uncharted, last of us 3, etc.
I cannot imagine why you would announce a game three or four years away from launch. From what I've seen with announcements this early, the game probably only has like a 70% chance of actually launching. If it's that far away, it means it's in super early development, and may not work out, or could be changed into something completely different.
I doubt they have anything besides the trailer and a concept at the moment.
Useless CGI hype, as most of the ''reveals'' at the game awards.
Probably more of an add for developers looking for work.
Then there is absolutely NO reason we should have seen it this early or even know it exists. They've now created a hype for something that will lead to further disappointment in their fans based on how long away it is. Gamers do not need to know a game is being made until 9-12 months prior to release date. Anything else is needless and just creates frustration.
At this point, movie trailers are doing a better job at keeping your attention, because at least when they show off their trailers, you know the release date is around 6-7 months away.
Sonic 2 had it's trailer in Dec, and it's coming out in April, that's 4 months away, while this SW game was shown off 3-4 years (let's add a delay of another year, because it's become the norm at this point) before it's even finished or released.
AAA's have gotta stop doing this,. Hasn't anyone learned from Cyberpunk at all yet?.
Better watch out Star Wars! Star Citizen beta might release before 2025!
Looks promising but not a fan of the developer making it.
I knew it as soon as I read Quantic Dream.
Quantic dream is making a star wars game? I am stunned, have no words..
Wow. Detroit came out 3.5 years ago. Seems like they abandoned their next project, or they would already be close to finished...
