PUBG to Support 60 FPS on Xbox Series X and PS5, 30 FPS on Xbox Series S - News
by William D'Angelo , posted on 02 November 2020 / 1,054 ViewsDeveloper PUBG Corporation announced PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds on the next-generation consoles will run the current-generation versions of the game at no additional cost. It will support cross-progression, cross-generation multiplayer, and cross-platform play.
The game will run at 60 frames per second on the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, and 30 frames per second on the Xbox Series S.
Here is an overview of the different versions:
Xbox Series X/S
The Xbox Series X will leverage the Xbox One X game build. The game will run at 60 FPS by selecting the Framerate Priority option*.
The Xbox Series S will leverage the Xbox One S game build, which runs at 30 FPS. We are working to provide an option to raise the framerate cap on Xbox One S and Xbox Series S consoles in the future.
PlayStation 5
PlayStation 5 will leverage the PlayStation 4 Pro build. By selecting the Framerate Priority option*, the game will run up to 60 FPS.
*Framerate Priority option releases on live servers for Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro with the October 9.1 Update.

That seems lazy, the game looks like a ps3 game. But it is not surprising since the console port was horrible, they must have serious customization problems.
Since the Series S runs BC content as a Xbox One S, its capped at 30 fps. It doesen't sound like there is an actual patch yet.
This actually isn't news. Numerous titles will be 30 fps on Series S BC, while Series X will have access to more 60 fps options found on Xbox One X titles.
That's interesting. I had assumed that M$ was requiring studios meet the same frame rate across S and X, but this means in the future we may have some demanding games that choose to prioritise resolution while running at 1/2 frame rate on Series S compared to X.
The Series S and X are just running this game via BC it seems. Hence, that's why the Series S is 30 fps. Series S probably won't get 60 fps unless they add an unlock frame rate option or a next gen patch.
