Overview

There are five games in the top 50 to be in its final week before launch, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception (PS3), The Lord of the Rings: War in the North for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, Harvest Moon: The Tale of Two Towns (3DS), Sonic Generations for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and Fate/Extra (PSP).

The top five games include Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (X360), Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (PS3), The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (X360), Star Wars: The Old Republic (PC), and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Wii).

The top five games have 500,000 or more pre-orders, down from six last week, and the top 12 has 200,000 or more pre-orders, down from 14 last week. Three games add 100,000 or more pre-orders, down from five last week and 15 add 20,000 or more, up from 14 last week.

Games in final week before launch

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception (PS3) is the top game in its final week before launch. The game reached number eight as it added 82,000 pre-orders for a grand total of 437,000. Expect first week sales in the Americas to be in the 600,000 to 800,000 unit range. This is a lot more than Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (PS3) which only had 189,000 pre-orders and sold 417,000 in its first week in the Americas.

The Lord of the Rings: War in the North (X360) is at number 23 as it adds 18,000 pre-orders for a final total of 93,000. Expect first week sales in the Americas to be in the 150,000 to 200,000 unit range. The PlayStation 3 version is at number 35 as it adds 13,000 pre-orders for a total of 61,000. Expect first week sales in the Americas to be in the 80,000 to 120,000 unit range.

Harvest Moon: The Tale of Two Towns (3DS) is at number 30 as it adds 11,000 pre-orders for a total of 73,000. Expect first week sales in the Americas to be in the 120,000 to 140,000 unit range.

Sonic Generations (X360) is at number 31 as it adds 17,000 pre-orders for a total of 73,000. Expect first week sales in the Americas to be in the 120,000 to 140,000 unit range. The PlayStation 3 version is at number 41 as it adds 12,000 pre-orders for a total of 55,000. Expect first week sales in the Americas to be in the 80,000 to 100,000 unit range.

Fate/Extra (PSP) is at number 37 as it adds 17,000 pre-orders for a total of 59,000. Expect first week sales in the Americas to be in the 90,000 to 110,000 unit range.

Other Hot Games

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (X360) is at the top as it adds 406,000 pre-orders, up from 261,000 pre-orders the previous week. The game currently has 2.39 million pre-orders and is two weeks away from launch, November 8 in both the Americas and EMEAA. The game has shot past Call of Duty: Black Ops (X360) total pre-orders and could pass the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 version combined.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 vs Call of Duty: Black Ops Pre-orders

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (PS3) is up two spots to number two as it adds 196,000 pre-orders up from 100,000 last week. The game is currently at 969,000 pre-orders and will launch in two weeks, November 8 in both the Americas and EMEAA. . The game has shot past Call of Duty: Black Ops (PS3) total pre-orders and will be the first PlayStation 3 game to reach the one million pre-orders mark in the Americas next week.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Pre-orders

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Wii) is up two spots to number five, as it adds 69,000 pre-orders, up from 30,000 last week, for a total of 522,000. The game is four weeks away from launch, November 18 in EMEAA and November 20 in the Americas.

Star Wars: The Old Republic Pre-orders

Star Wars: The Old Republic (PC) is up one spot to number four as it adds 56,000 pre-orders, down from 66,000 last week, for a total of 753,000. The game is eight weeks away from launch, December 20 in the Americas and December 22 in EMEAA.

Also in the top 10: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (X360) is at number three as it adds 163,000 pre-orders, up from 105,000 last week, for a total of 966,000. The game is two weeks away from launch, November 11 in both the Americas and EMEAA.

Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary (X360) is up three spots to number six, as it adds 64,000 pre-orders up 29,000 last week, for a total of 475,000. The game is three weeks away from launch, November 15 in the Americas and EMEAA.

Assassin’s Creed: Revelations (X360) is up one spot to number seven, as it adds 40,000 pre-orders, up from 23,000 last week, for a total of 472,000. The game is three weeks away from launch, November 15 in the Americas and EMEAA.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (PS3) is up two spots to number nine as it adds 62,000 pre-orders, up from 37,000 last week, for a total of 351,000. The game is two weeks away from launch, November 11 in both the Americas and EMEAA.

Mass Effect 3 (X360) is up two spots to number 10 as it adds 17,000 pre-orders, up from 14,000 last week, for a total of 296,000. The game is 19 weeks away from launch, March 6, 2012 in the Americas and March 9, 2012 in EMEAA.

Notable mentions outside the top 10: Saints Row: The Third (X360) adds 38,000 pre-orders for a total of 222,000. Super Mario 3DLand (3DS) adds 33,000 pre-orders for a total of 133,000. Mario Kart 7 (3DS) adds 15,000 pre-orders for a total of 101,000.

Requests from last week’s article for games that are not in the top 50: Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning (X360) adds 5,000 pre-orders for a total of 42,000. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (Wii) adds 9,000 pre-orders for a total of 33,000. Guild Wars 2 (PC) adds 4,000 pre-orders for a total of 10,000.

Since PS3 has larger presence in Europe than in US, we could potentially see 1.6 or even 1.8 million sold in week 1. I would say 40% US 60% EEMA.

Mass Effect 3 is doing damn fine if you ask me.19 weeks away from release and already close to 400k pre orders across all platforms is very impressive and I believe a lack of competition for next year will boost it's sales enormously.Expecting it to have a 2mil sales in the first week.
