There is an SC2 Campaign Launcher on Github which will let you play perfect versions of the Warcraft 3 campaign in the Starcraft 2 engine. It is far better than earlier attempts and better than anything Blizzard is announcing here (for $70+ CAD also).

Play Warcraft 3 campaign in the Starcraft2 engine and then move on. Blizzard doesn't respect the fans, they are stuck on the 2003 engine, regardless of the visuals.

As a Warcraft fan, this is exactly what we wanted. Its basically Warcraft 4.

As a Warcraft fan, no, not even close. It's a custom campaign for $30 dollars that they removed LAN and Offline mode to add..... and they spend time adding a 4th graphic mode instead of adressing the instability the game still has with disconnects and much more.

Bud, its a 30 hour campaign sequel to The Lich King and ties the story from WC3 to WoW. Thats what i wanted.
I couldnt care less about technical issues they can solve over time. The main thing is we have more campaign.

They've had 6 years, not so sure "they can fix it with time" still applies. And you can quite literally get disconnected in the campaign now which is pretty damn hard to defend.

Iv finished both Reforged Reign of Choas and the Lich King with zero disconnections and even if I was unlucky, the game Autosaves. They were worth the playthrough for me.

I think you are just fear mongering here. Plenty of games require your console/PC to be connected to the net, this isnt unique feature for Reforge.

If you played the campaigns before this patch then there's you answer. Doubt you've had time to play them since saturday. And yeah the disconnects are real, I've had friends get disconnected in the new campaign and lose progress. And honestly I just gotta ask why you would defend it, seriously why? There's absolutely no reason to take away features the game has had for 24 years without justification and just throwing it stealthily in the patch notes. It's purely worse, you can argue about how much worse, but they are making an active choice that will cause issues for players.
And yeah man if you haven't touched the multiplayer then sure, you haven't experienced 95 % of the game's issues but don't state it like it doesn't have any in that case. I play this game every week, I have lots of fun with it, but it is 100 % a flawed product and pretending that it isn't is just enabling developers to not fix their issues and instead just put out more content they can sell.

Just stating my own experience with the game. I only play the Campaign of these games, was never into the MP so I cant speak on that. To claim the game is broken or unplayable is false, I played it at launch and finished both campaigns, did they mislead with some features? Sure, is the campaign a inferior product to the OG? No. It graphically looks better etc.

So in saying all that, what exactly are you arguing agaisnt? You didnt want a sequel to The Lich King?

UnderwaterFunktown Azzanation (on 15 September 2026)

You realize parts of the game that you don't touch can be broken right? Besides you're making some ridiculous hyperboles here about things I didn't say, instead of addressing any of the things I actually did. The only things I've criticisms about the single-player has been them making it offline only and saying it's exactly what "fans wanted". have maybe 5000 hours in W3 and you're calling Frozen Throne for The Lich King, is it really so hard to believe my criticisms about current and past states of the game come from a valid place? Because you seem insistent that you have to dismiss every issue I've brought up as invalid when stuff like removing offline is objectively worse than having the option.
(And I haven't even talked about how they've butchered custom maps with new bugs that affect a solid 30 % of them atm. My own map is unplayable for one).

Im sorry to hear you have had issues with your experience with this game. I have not, and the Forsaken Expansion is new and continues the legendary story of WC3. Thats what many Warcraft fans wanted, more WC3. Its the closest thing to a WC4 game we can get.

UnderwaterFunktown Azzanation (on 15 September 2026)

Honestly, I'm not sure many people actively wanted more Warcraft 3, but I can't argue that they wanted more Warcraft RTS and it was one way to provide that. That being said I think realistically most people actively playing the game wanted fixes before any new content (and new content that didn't require more fixes). But yeah

Azzanation UnderwaterFunktown (on 15 September 2026)

Fingers crossed the new expansion gets Blizzards attention to fix the issues you have mentioned.

UnderwaterFunktown Azzanation (on 16 September 2026)

Sure I'd hope so too. You'd have expected so with 2.0, but this does maybe get a bit more response.

disconnects? I have never once been discounted, and I use a VPN to play when im in mainland China and or Malaysia. Never once had connection issues.

As for LAN thats a niche within a niche. If you want to have a lan party just connect online. Anyone who is going to host a lan party already has a stable internet connection.

Even all the internet cafes I go too non of them use lan features anymore.

  • 0
UnderwaterFunktown Ashadelo (on 14 September 2026)

Well I can't speak to VPNs or asian servers or whatever but I can speak to my own experience and while it rarely happens to me personally I see it happen very, very often playing with strangers.

And honestly you can argue about how much LAN is or isn't niche, but I gotta ask: Why remove it? Why insist on defending decisions that just remove player choice, I've used LAN earlier this year in fact, it's the easiest option when you're on the same network. I think they quite literally just removed it because it has been less consistent since Reforged with games not always showing up so instead of fixing the code that they don't understand they remove the feature completely.

Garrus Azzanation (on 14 September 2026)

no it isn't the engine is unchanged, we wanted an improved SC2 engine version, or atleast an SC2 engine version

this is not Warcraft 4, it is stuck with all the horrible attributes of the WC3 engine

  • 0
Azzanation Garrus (on 15 September 2026)

WC3 doesnt need to be SC2. The mechanics work just fine and I am happy they kept things traditional. Its not Warcraft 4 but its the closest thing to it with this Expansion.

  • 0
Garrus Azzanation (on 16 September 2026)

it's not "mechanics", it is unresponsive (for example Warcraft 3 doesn't scale with frame rate, the tick rate is very poor), the movement is bad, the AI pathing is bad etc.

couldn't disagree with you more, maybe try the warcraft 3 campaign in SC2 engine mod, Synergy's one, it is perfect and shows you what could have been

  • 0
Azzanation Garrus (on 16 September 2026)

When they actually make a Warcraft 4 then id expect them to use SC2s engine.

  • 0
Garrus Azzanation (on 16 September 2026)

the SC2 engine is from 2010

  • 0
Garrus Azzanation (on 16 September 2026)

maybe try Synergy's campaign in SC2 first before commenting about it, you'll like it

  • 0
Azzanation Garrus (on 17 September 2026)

I havnt played SC2 after finishing the 3rd expansion, Just give me more content, id take a SC2 4th expansion, and whatever engine they want to use is obviously up to the devs and I trust they will make the correct call.

  • 0
UnderwaterFunktown (on 13 September 2026)

Just... stop. If you want to add new Warcraft 3 content at least make it look like Warcraft 3, and with all the repentance they have to do for this game did they really seriously think removing LAN and Offline modes would be okay? I play this game every week, I'm a custom map maker, it's literally my second favorite game ever and I won't be buying this for now.

Is Reforged fixed yet?

  • 0
Azzanation Salnax (on 12 September 2026)

Fix what?

  • 0
Salnax Azzanation (on 13 September 2026)

Vaguely remember the game introducing new bugs and having questionable design choices when it came out in 2020, to the extent where there were widespread refunds.

  • 0
Azzanation Salnax (on 13 September 2026)

Not sure what those issues were outside of the political attack Blizzard copped during the China protesters. The game has been heavily patched since its release so if say they have.

  • +1
UnderwaterFunktown Azzanation (on 13 September 2026)

"Not sure what the issues with Reforged was" is not something I expected to hear. I've been playing the game every week since release, trust me there are issues, and they were extreme at one point

  • +1
Azzanation UnderwaterFunktown (on 13 September 2026)

Iv also finished both campaigns and rarely came across any game breaking issues. Though ill admit I never touched the MP.

Reforged was never fixed, but there is an incredible starcraft 2 engine remake of all single player content by Synergy released last year for free, get it, the campaign launcher, it is incredible

1 fan did what all of Blizzard couldn't (and it was a lot of work for one guy)
