Hideki Kamiya Teases Bayonetta 2

by Gabriel Franco, posted on 25 November 2010 / 3,094 Views
Platinum Games designer Hideki Kamiya teased today, via his twitter account, that Bayonetta 2 might be in the works

When asked about DLC for Bayonetta, Kamiya stated "Perhaps in Bayonetta2". When asked by another twitter user “So are you confirming Bayonetta 2?” Kamiya simply remarked, “Oh you think so?”

Is Bayonetta 2 in the works? or is Kamiya just playing with fans?

It would be better to have it exclusively for PS3!

[feminism]Bayonetta 2: Now with Bukkake![/feminism] squeakthedragon: you are right on that. I just find difficult to understand how people relates Bayonetta with (3XTR3M3) feminism. It's like saying Grindhouse is a(n) (3XTR3M3) peace movie. Now on ps3/x360: they should get a much bigger budget AND have much more experience: expect same or better ps3 version.

gustave154 said, "they better make the PS3 version better or on par with the Xbox 360 version. its amazing that PS3 owners buy the game even though its sucks on the PS3." That was really a matter of budget when they did that. The 360 is far easier to develop games for than is the PS3 with the complicated structure of the Cell processor. Platinum Games/Team Little Angels had Sega do the port for Bayonetta on the PS3. I hope they do make it comparable this time around, and not just in performance, but also in looks as well. Specifically one reason for making this a priority in quality for the PS3, is that, games like Bayonetta are going to appeal more to PS3 only gamers than they are to 360 only gamers. But keep in mind that developing games for each console is an expensive affair since it takes (technically speaking) double the time, therefor it is double the cost. Platinum Games doesn't have the money that Activision,, EA, and other big name developers/publishers have to spit out for cross-platform development of games.

Kleeyook Said, "I wish he'd go back to make DMC5. Bayonetta just isn't my thing." Not everyone is going to like a game or certain games for various reasons, but your reason is one that doesn't fit the bill if they are just going to cookie cut the same system by simply changing that the fighting is in another milieu. I loved DMC and Ninja Gaiden, but I passed on DMC4 and NG2 because they didn't change. It's the very same reason why I have altogether given up on shooters. Since Modern Warfare, every shooter out there wants to be MW and nothing is changing. I haven't bought a shooter this year. With NG2 and DMC4, it was the same combat system, while fighting in extremely small areas, etc. Bayonetta took DMC's combat system, gave it way more depth, added more weapons and accessories that are not just tacked on, they actually are used for specific fighting situations or in the various challenge modes (Alfheims). Having weapons both hands and both feet were a treat from the typical fighting style of yore.

Squeakthedragon hit it right on the nose. It's too bad the majority of gamers are male oriented when playing their character of choice in videos games; I really see no difference. In fact, when I play RPGs or games where I can choose my own sex, I typically choose a female because she is more than naught the only non-male character. They are more pleasing to look at as well. :-) Bayonetta was a change of pace that got me back into the genre because it offered something other than the typical male character. Aside from enhancing the depth of Bayonetta's combat system (similar to DMC or Viewtiful Joe), which is one of the best I have ever played, using that female character with the over the top dialogue/storyline, etc sold it for me. The Witch Time, varied weapons and accessories that are used in the game make a huge difference and made the combat much more varied and they don't feel tacked on. I gave up on this genre in this current generation of consoles because it seemed all the same aside from being male oriented in character. Bayonetta changed that for me

Yes please!

EyeAmTJ (on 26 November 2010)

I still need to get the first one I liked the demo

Squeakthedragon (on 26 November 2010)

I'll almost guarantee that a Bayonetta 2 will have multiple playable characters, that at least one of them will be male, somewhat more traditionally designed and not as satirical as Bayonetta, and that this character will be featured prominently on the cover. Bayonetta actually sold well considering how niche it is, but I think they'll be more cautious about advertising the game's content. Too many people won't even look at a game without a man on the cover, and too many people seemed unable to grasp that Bayonetta's sexploitation was pure satire ala a "Grindhouse" production. This may sound cynical, but mind you I don't think the content in the game itself will be compromised. The story, characterizations, etc, will all be what Kamiya wants. Fans shouldn't worry; I merely suspect everyone involved will be more canny about how they market it and about those first impressions.

I wish he'd go back to make DMC5. Bayonetta just isn't my thing. :(

kupomogli (on 26 November 2010)

I'd rather him make another game like Devil May Cry and Bayonetta but not Bayonetta 2.

Jim6860 (on 25 November 2010)

If 2 is for real, I hope it is as great as Bayonetta was. That game is in my top 10 all time and it is hands down best action game of the year for 2010. Fortunately, I have the 360 version. I hope in the next release they develop equal quality on both platforms. That was a shame the way the PS3 version came about.

tripleb2k (on 25 November 2010)

I still haven't played the first one :(

SpartanFX (on 25 November 2010)

@Lyrikalstylez why would they drop the more popular version??if anything they should focus on PS3 and do a port to Xbox at the end just like their last game vanquish

FinalEvangelion (on 25 November 2010)

@Lyrikalstyles - Why? The PS3 version sold more. Good news anyway. One of my favorite games this gen.

Lyrikalstylez (on 25 November 2010)

next time they should just stick to the 360 version

SpartanFX (on 25 November 2010)

nice and this time hopefully they lead on PS3 like vanquish

AnveL (on 25 November 2010)

better don't ditch the PS3 ver. quality this time or i'm not gonna buy it...

NYANKS (on 25 November 2010)

That kind of screwing with fans seems like a confirmation to me lol.

A203D (on 25 November 2010)

I'm sure it is, i think that the 1.5 mil Bayo did and the powerful word of mouth means a sequel is warranted. imo it was the best game this year. definitly my faviourite game of the year so far.
