Other M Sequel "Cannot Be Possible" Without Team Ninja

So says Yoshio Sakamoto himself, esteemed co-creator of the Metroid-series. While he didn't have as much input in the Metroid Prime trilogy, he helmed the development of the most recent iteration, Metroid: Other M. And in his own words, if they were to make a sequel to it, Team Ninja would not be left out of the mix.

"I'm very grateful for the collaboration with Team Ninja coming up with Metroid Other M," he said.

He went on to say that
"As far as my opinion is concerned if we are going to make something similar to Metroid Other M in the future I cannot think that it would be possible for Nintendo to make it without collaborating with Team Ninja,"

But even so, Sakamoto himself has no idea what path the next iteration of the Metroid franchise might take.

He explained that "If we are going to decide the next Metroid is going to be a linear extension of Other M then Team Ninja comes first in my mind as the partner for us to collaborate with,"

"But if I'm going to decide that it's going to be a different story for the next Metroid adventure then depending on the skills, know-how and technology that might require, Team Ninja might not be the choice for us to collaborate with."

i'm fine with other m and the prime series. a 2d metroid by retro would be also great.

Just like Nintendo couldn't make another DKC w/o RARE right?

I want him to do another Other M-style title so I'm all for bringing Team Ninja back.

im loving other m right now... im about an hour into the game, the controls are perfects, i was worried the D-pad was gonna be busted but it wasn't, i am enjoying the story so far but i think there is to much narration, sometimes i wish samus would shut the fuck up and talk out of her mouth lol Super Metroid is still the king though i agree with "LokeSTL"

I could play another Metroid game developed by Team Ninja. I like the unique touch they gave it. I hate how everyone's bashing it because its not exactly the same as Super Metroid. If it was exactly the same, it wouldn't be interesting. This is a new game not a port. Team Ninja and Retro both did amazing jobs with Metroid.

I like Other M better than the Primes, but must admit that it is far from perfect. I can forgive the "permission" way of handing out power-ups, the tacked on melodrama, and the wonky switch between views. What I don' like is the lack of openness and exploration, the strict linearity, and the lack of drops after killing an enemy. Again they miss the mark of what is loved about the original Metroid games, but at least they came a little closer this time. Now if they could just get developers who are fans of the originals and don't feel the need to "add their own touch", we might just get another Super Metroid. But for now SM is still the king of the franchise. At least that is my opinion.

Sakamoto should recuse himself and let Retro do the next iteration and make it side scrolling. They did an excellent job with the first prime game. A game superior to MOM in every way
