Nippon Ichi's Upcoming Game Has One of the Weirdest Trailers Ever - News

by VGChartz Staff , posted on 24 January 2010 / 4,064 Views

First of all, watch this

Now, tell me honestly if you understood what's going on there. The trailer claims it's a "dungeon RPG", but I've seen so many different types of gameplay in there that you can't be sure. Coming from the makers of Disgaea (who else could have made this), Zettai Hero Kaizou Keikkaku (Absolute Hero Modding Project) promises to be one of the most original RPGs in quite some time. For what it looks like, it has isometric dungeon crawling, some type of 2D combat in addition to Disgaea-like attacks, job customization (I counted 13 jobs in that trailer in rapid sucession), weird game over screens, and the most important thing of all, a Prinny hat.

Zettai Hero Kaizou Keikkaku will be available exclusively for PSP on March 11th in Japan, with a Western release not yet announced, but since we're talking about Nippon Ichi here, I'm willing to bet we'll be seeing this in the West soon

I agree... so many gametypes here, it makes my brain hurt. So weird.

On the other hand, the more games the better for PSP (especially rpgs).

Whatever this game is, I hope it comes to NA so I can at least have a chance to play it (in English).

The end boss is so strong you'll keep dying and dying and upgrading yourself, and going through endless random dungeons..

Familiar stuff.

God Japan is so weird. Not so much the game itself but the presentation of the trailer.

It's like Children of Mana plus Mega Man Battle Network, Final Fantasy Tatics, Disgaea and Mario Party. Nothing really weird about it guys.

I don't really see anything revolutionary about the game. Its mostly just the same type of gameplay as the other Nippon Ichi SRPG games, just with more randomness and more bells and whistles (aka all the gans/tanks/hats, etc they were showing). In the end however, even though each game they keep making keeps having more and more new 'different' attacks, its still basically the same basic gameplay.

The rest of the stuff looked to just be comedic stuff tied to the story, such as the 'game over' screens mimicking Dragon Quest and Fire Emblem. And much of the other stuff that looks different from the main game actually just looks like stuff from past games, such as the standard extra modes and towns we have seen in past Nippon Ichi games. The bulk of the game looks to be the regular SRPG gameplay with just more wacky Nippon Ichi dialogue and new forms or attacking (like ranged attacks and tanks and stuff).
