Super Mario Odyssey Producer: Toad is Not Wearing a Hat - News
by William D'Angelo , posted on 06 February 2018 / 11,587 ViewsSuper Mario Odyssey producer Yoshiaki Koizumi in a new developer talk video has revealed that what some people thought was a hat on Toad's head is actually Toad's head.
"So that, as it turns out is actually Toad's head," said Koizumi when asked if Toad's head is a hat or his head. "I’m going to have to leave it to all of you to figure out exactly how that works out. Maybe there’s something inside."
Koizumi was also asked by Mario doesn't have a belly button in the game.
"Well to be perfectly honest, I didn’t really expect that to be a topic among fans. Once I heard that people were talking so much about Mario’s belly button, it made me start to think about whether we should revisit the topic on the design side."
Super Mario Odyssey released for the Nintendo Switch worldwide on October 27, 2017.

So, we're jumping right into that question, are we?
MY LIFE IS A LIE!!!!!
I personally think they reproduce asexually (which is why there's very little variation among the species) but each new Toad gestates over a period of months within that dome. Once birthed, the process begins anew.
Seems plausible to me anyway as I don't see how else they're reproducing and lord knows those dumbasses aren't using that space to contain brain matter. :D
I thought that was quite obvious?
I honestly though his design was an overcarry from Doki Doki panic, with it's overall oriental/indian theeming with the ballon trousers, the little vest, and the cap as a likeness to a Turban. In that scenario it would have made sense for the cap to be....well..a cap. Or rather a hat.
Seeing that toad first appears in the original Super Mario and still that the same design, that theory doesn't really hold up anyways though. So.....fine by me, I guess?
I thought we knew this already... Anyway, another of life's questions answered.
How big would Mario get if he actually ate toad. And is every mushroom a spore toad which Mario kills. So many questions.
You're assuming that all mushrooms will increase Mario's size. This has already been proven false though, since we've seen mushrooms with very different effects. We've seen Mushrooms that grant extra lives, shrink Mario, hurt him, bolster his HP, give him Boo, Rock, and Bee transformations, and so on.
They cant DO this to us :-(
