VGAs 2012: Roundup - News

Spike's Video Game Awards show has come to a close. Trailers were revealed, awards were handed out (though only a few of them on the actual telecast) and music was played. Did you miss the show? Here's the highlights.

The Phantom Pain

Hello there Solid Snake.

A mysterious new trailer was revealed from an unknown developer called Moby Dick Studios. In it, a comatose patient wakes up with a hook for an arm and is crawling through some sort of terrifying end-of-the-world experience. The trailer, originally on Youtube, has been taken down. However, that's not the big story here.

The Phantom Pain is appearing ever more likely to be some sort of viral marketing for Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes. The patient himself looks much like Solid Snake and the CEO of Moby Dick Studios is named Joakim Mogren. The first name can be re-arranged to spell Kojima. Additionally, Hideo Kojima himself was at the VGAs. Something's amiss...

Trailers for The Last of Us, Dark Souls IICastlevania: Lords of Shadow 2, Assassin's Creed 3: Tyranny of George Washington, Halo 4: Spartan Ops, Gears of War Judgment, and Bioshock Infinite were shown. The Last Of Us was given a release date of May 7, 2013.

VGA 10...in 2012.

Many of the awards weren't broadcast on the awards show (go figure). The big winner was The Walking Dead which took the Game of the Year Award, much to the surprise of many.
