Dark Souls II to be "Less Ambiguous" than its Predecessors - News

Fans of Demon's Souls and its spiritual successor Dark Souls will tell you that the most rewarding aspects of both games are their approaches to exploration and discovery, as well as their old-school, unrelenting difficulty. So these same fans may be surprised to hear Dark Souls II director Tomohiro Shibuya wants the game to be "more straightforward and more understandable."

While we have nothing to go by for the game so far (its trailer only just recently debuted at this year's VGAs), it's interesting to imagine what this statement means for the game's direction. Part of Demon's and Dark Souls' success came from its lack of straightforwardness and its vagueness; a shift away from that could alienate the fanbase.

But what do I know! Dark Souls was one of the best (and one of the most brutal) games of last year. Let's see what the sequel brings to the table.
