The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct Trailer Actually Fan-Made - News

The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct trailer turned heads when it released earlier this week, but in the wrong way. A prequel set before the events of TV show of same name, Survival Instincts failed to impress fans when its trailer showcased wonky animations, a boring art-style and relatively uninteresting gameplay.

However, it appears that the trailer was not one officially released by publisher Activision, but a fan-made trailer pieced together from the guys over at IGN's Up At Noon. While the footage shown is from the game currently in development, it was not an official trailer, and may not even represent the final state of the game.

The trailer, which even many Activision officials thought was real, was posted around the Internet (including by us) before One of Swords figured out its true origins. Just goes to show how journalism's "game of telephones" can sometimes get out of hand (especially in game journalism).

Has this news affected your opinion of The Walking Dead: Survival Instincts? It certainly has a lot to live up to, following the massive critical success of the TV series and Telltale Games' critically acclaimed episodic game (which recently won Spike's VGA Game of the Year award). We'll see how the game turns out when it launches later this year.
