Guillermo del Toro's InSANE Game Project is Still Alive - News
by Karl Koebke , posted on 07 January 2013 / 2,495 ViewsDuring an interview with the Toronto Sun about GlaDOS' apparent casting in his upcoming film Pacific Rim, Guilllermo del Toro also had some things about his upcoming game, InSANE. Even though THQ's financial troubles have forced them to drop the project, del Toro says that he hasn't given up and is working towards a release for the project:
“We are in talks with a very, very big company. I can’t say who, but it’s one of the big ones. They really responded to the game, they responded to what we were trying”, he said.
“Some of the devices of the game I need to update, because now I’ve seen them in other games that just came out. That always happens. But the principle we’re trying to do with the game is to make it a really immersive narrative experience. It’s still a really challenging proposal.”
If I were a betting man I'd guess that the company he is referring to is likely to be Sony, simply because when someone says "very, very big company" it makes me think of one of the big three, and from those I think Sony have shown themselves to be the most amenable to games with "immersive narrative experience" (see, for example, Quantic Dream).
Whoever it ends up being we wish del Toro the best. Hopefully InSANE can be successful enough to warrant some more games from him. I for one would love a Pacific Rim "giant robots killing sea monsters" video game.
Let us know in the comments what gaming company you think he's referring to.
