New Characters & Story Details for BlazBlue: Chronophantasma - News

PlayStation 3-owning BlazBlue fans will be pleased to hear that Arc System Works has added two new characters for when the third installment in their fighting game series, Chronophantasma, hits their console - so says Siliconera and Dustloop.

The first of these new fighters is Kagura Mutsuki. Described as a "charge character", Kagura only has two special moves - a projectile and an anti-air attack - but can use his Drive, Stance, to perform other attacks. According to his bio, he's a high-ranking general and the head of the Mutsuki family; one of the twelve most prominent families in the villainous NOL world order. Word is that he's planning to rebel against the Imperator who controls the organisation, which probably means that he'll end up joining forces with Ragna and his ragtag bunch of misfits.

The second new character is a surprising addition to the roster: Yuki Terumi. No, not his Hazama alias - the actual Big Bad of the series is making an appearance. Despite what the name would imply, he's not actually appearing in his spirit form - but as a wilder-looking version of Hazama with a hooded overcoat thrown onto him. Probably for the best, as an immortal ghost would be somewhat impossible to defeat. Unlike Kagura, Terumi is being offered a a pre-order DLC bonus.

In addition to these new characters, the Japanese blog Re:Zaregoto has revealed that the game will feature three story paths: Chronophantasma, The Six Heroes and Sector Seven. Apparently, these will - when combined with the true story route - provide about thirty hours of gameplay.

BlazBlue: Chronophantasma hits the PS3 this October in Japan. There's still no word on a western release, or an Xbox 360 one for that matter, but fingers crossed.
