Angry Birds Go Starts Its Engines on December 11th - News
by Brent Galietti , posted on 16 October 2013 / 1,936 ViewsSure, Angry Birds has become a worldwide phenomena since Rovio introduced this avian experience, but it never truly became big. Why do I say that? Because as gamers know so well, no series is truly big until it creates a kart racing spin-off game. Starting December 11th, Angry Birds will join that elite company with the release of Angry Birds Go on (as of yet) unspecified platforms.
Rovio's foray into the money making, kart racing genre will be free-to-play, with revenue assumedly to be generated from kart upgrades, power-up purchases and other methods that we've become accustomed to seeing in free-to-play mobile titles. The exact details are currently unknown, but the trailer looks interesting.
That's not all the game will do, however, as Rovio is doubling down on the revenue generation strategy by introducing telepods. Much like Skylanders and Disney Infinity, Angry Birds Go will feature toys that can be scanned into the game using a device. This allows players to teleport real-life Angry Birds go kart telepod toys into the games and race as that kart/character combo.
Who are you going to play as? I'm partial to Bomb, myself.
