Top 10 Selling Xbox 360 Games (2014 Update)

Welcome to the ‘Top 10’ weekly feature. Each week we will be taking a look at the top 10 selling games in a particular genre, platform, most recent month, even sprinkling in the top 10 selling games from a past year. All sales specified will be worldwide, unless stated otherwise. If there is a particular top 10 you want to see leave a comment and it may be featured in a future top 10. As a note all sales figures are retail only.

This week we will be taking a look at the top 10 selling Xbox 360 games (2014 update). Last week we looked at the top 10 selling games in April 2014, and the week before that the top 10 selling games in March 2014

Looking at the top 10 selling Xbox 360 games (2014 update), two of the games were released in 2007, one in 2008, one in 2009, three in 2010, one in 2011, one in 2012, and one in 2013.

The top 10 selling Xbox 360 games have sold 129.31 million units. The top selling game, Kinect Adventures!, sold more than 20 million units. The top eight titles sold more than 10 million units and the entire top 10 sold more than nine million units.

When you break it down by publisher there are three first party titles and seven third party titles. There are five titles published by Activision, and two by Take-Two.

The three Microsoft titles sold a combined 42.53 million units or 32.7 percent of the total games sold in the top 10. The five Activision titles sold a combined 63.25 million units or 48.5 percent of the total games sold in the top 10. The two Take-Two titles sold a combined 24.53 million units or 18.8 percent of the total games sold in the top 10.


When you break it down by franchise there are five Call of Duty titles, two Grand Theft Auto titles, and two Halo titles. The five Grand Theft Auto titles sold 63.25 million units. The two Grand Theft Auto titles sold 24.53 million units. The two Halo titles sold 21.46 million units.

Side note:  There have been 706,647 Xbox 360’s sold in 2014 through May 24. The Xbox 360 has sold 80.8 million units lifetime. There have also been 20.74 million games sold for the Xbox 360 in 2014. There have been 858.7 million games sold lifetime for the Xbox 360.

Broken down by publisher Electronic Arts has sold the most games for the Xbox 360 with 155.2 million games sold. Microsoft has sold 152.1 million games, Activision 137.7 million games, Take-Two 75.8 million games, and Ubisoft 70.2 million games.

How can Kinect adventures only be at 21 million if they had sold 24 million units of kinect by February 2014?
