Xbox One Breaks Australian Launch Sales Record - News
by William D'Angelo , posted on 09 December 2013 / 10,667 ViewsThe Xbox One launched in 13 countries on November 22, including Australia. The console in its first three days set a record for the fastest selling console, according to AFR. EB Games called the launch of the Xbox One "unprecedented."
The Xbox One sold 65,917 units in three days,. This is more than double the previous record held by the Nintendo Wii, which was set in 2006. Xbox One sales also beat out what any other console sold in a week.
The Xbox One sold 1.19 million units worldwide in its first 48 hours, according to VGChartz. The Xbox One managed to sell an additional 401,035 in its second week on sale and has sold 1.59 million units as of November 30.

PS4 suffering from extreme shortages here. The second round of pre-orders haven't been released yet and any new pre-orders aren't available until February.
Have Sony spread themselves and their stock too thin at launch to get any of these records? More than likely, but still will see how it turns out, heard that Sony are expecting to be able to make 1m ps4s per month. But it's these starting sales figures which a lot of people will look at.
Alot of people comment the fact that PS4 is suffering from shortages and that seems to be what is making up the difference in sales. But Xbox One is also suffering from shortage. So if both sufferes from shortage that sort of does even it out a bit. Also, I don't think we should jump to any conclusion on what consoles is outselling one another untill they have been on the marked for a while. Still alot of countries left to release in for both consoles (where I live for example. They haven't even announced a date for release yet).
The X1 is not suffering from shortages here in Austraila. You could still get a Day One Edition a week after launch and you can still pick up an X1 in store now.
And I saw a few articles showing photos of hundreds of X1s sitting on store shelves days after launch in the U.S.
Biggest opening until PS4 right? What PS4 is sold out?
PS4 shortages, not the greatest achievement here.
PS4's are pretty hard to come by here, I saw a lot of people buying Xbone and Wii U at my local store.
That great news for Microsoft fan. I wonder how well is PS4 doing in Aussie
It is so disrespectful to rush the launch of a product without being able to meet potential demand.
Oh, and fanboys make me sick.
Wow, that was unexpected. Congratulations Microsoft!
I live here and I can tell you if the PS4 didn't outsell the X1 then it's only because the PS4 supply here is low. The first preorder shipment of PS4s sold out very quick, months and months ago. The second preorder shipment, which arrives this month, is sold out too. The third preorder shipment doesn't arrive till early 2014, so if you want a PS4 you have to wait till then. You can not find a PS4 anywhere here. If Sony was able to fulfil all their preorders then PS4 would have easily beat X1.
Industry sources told The Australian Financial Review that the primary reason was because Sony was unable to fulfil the Australian preorders.
I can still buy an X1 from the day of release to now here in Australia. This contradicts MS claim that the X1 is sold out everywhere and selling like hotcakes. That fact is absolutely true for the PS4 here. You will be lucky to get a PS4 here by February. Can get an X1 anytime and it's not surprising that the mains stores are pushing the X1. That's what sales people do, push the stock they have. And remember, there is only a $50 difference in price between X1 ans PS4 here in Australia so eat on that Pachter! :)
This story has so many caveats, it's not funny.
My friend works at JB's and they have too many PS4 and they are not moving. They shipped them to stores from the main warehouse thinking they would sell out because they would rather run out for online sales than in store sales. Now all the stores have way too many ps4 that people arent buying and they are starting to ship them back.
They sold TONNES of Xbox One's, not surprising since it has objectively has the better games, Dead Rising 3 is actually tempting, while Knack and Killzone are well are knack and killzone, LOL. 3DS has been bananas too, you will lucky to find a physical copy of Zelda, the digital sales must huge with all the people they turn away looking for that. Mario 3D World has been going pretty well too.
Also said the amount of returns of faulty ps4 has been crazy, never seen that many returns of anything, ever.
Either your "friend" is smoking crack or this is a blatant lie.
Why do you think they are still advertising XBones here? How many PS4 ads have you seen coming from JB? None. They can't advertise what they don't have to sell.
I know a manager of a JB and 2 people who work in other retail outlets that all have the same thing to say: PS4 is sold out everywhere until Feb, plenty of XBones for sale off the shelf.
Oh and they've seen about the same amount of returns with the disc chewing XBones as they have the blue light PS4s.
Don't talk shit.
You are such a troll. The first and second shipments of PS4s are sold out everywhere, including JB. That is why you have to preorder for the third shipment.
The xbox1 is more favoured in Australia all my friends are getting one
Um No, Firstly your friends do not represent australia, and secondly, the PS4 is sold out till 2014 here
