Capcom has announced that Monster Hunter 4 has set a shipment record for a third-party 3DS game in Japan. In just four days the game has shipped two million units. This includes sales at retail and through the 3DS eshop.
"Capcom is pleased to announce that shipments of its Monster Hunter 4 game for Nintendo 3DS in Japan have exceeded two million units," said Capcom in a press release.
This figure is well ahead of the target of 2.8 million shipped by March 31, 2014. Monster Hunter 4 was released on September 14 and continues the success story for the franchise in Japan. The series has surpassed 25 million units sold since the first title was released in 2004.
