Larry Hryb, better known as Major Nelson, has Tweeted that Xbox One pre-orders are currently ahead of where the Xbox 360 was during the same time frame. He also said that pre-orders have sold out at the majority of US retailers.

"Just found out preorders are trending ahead of Xbox 360 preorders during the same time period + sold out at most U.S. retailers," Tweeted Major Nelson.

Positive news or positive PR? Generally, announcements made by company shills should not be described as "news".

then we should have a measurement of what is pr and what is not which we don't have.

Ahead of Xbox 360 in 2005? LMAO. I bet the first Xbox had higher preorders than the X360!

yeah kinda thinking the same, off the backs of the ps2/xbox the launch of the ps3 and xbox360 were looking like the ps3 was going to annihilate the 360

What?....The original Xbox had a very hard time because of the world was skeptical of an American videogame console. People were still skeptical but Microsoft made headway with Halo.

To be fair, the xbox360 was a great console compared to its predecessor so I'm not surprised that its successor would be more popular before launch.

Funny all the Sony fans that flock to any news. I really think there in the closet MS fans but don't want to admit on this site.

I'm interested to see how preorders are going here in Australia where I live. There's only a $50 difference in price between the Xbox One and PS4

Of course it did. MS has a much more stable base now than they did during the time of the first Xbox. Lets see if they can hold onto it because a massive amount of the fanfare they had seems to be jumping ship to where they came from.

More PR from Microsoft, which sadly tells us nothing specific. The Xbox 360 was the successor to the original Xbox which struggled on the market. Thus the the 360 never had impressive pre-order numbers, the console itself didn't become popular till after the PS3 was out. Also launch consoles sell out all the time, even the Wii U managed that and look the state it is in today!

Lower supply, lower demand equals= sold out, I guess.

Or it could have been Lower supply, high demand = sold out. I don't plan on purchasing a 360, but it unfortunately has a popular user base. The Wii was a situation of Low Supply, high demand = Sold out.
