PlayStation 4 will Play Used Games - News

by William D'Angelo , posted on 21 February 2013 / 4,284 Views

With all the excitement surrounding the PlayStation 4, one unanswered question during the unveil was that will the console be able to play used games. Eurogamer had a chance to speak with Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida and asked him that very question.

"Do you want us to do that?" Yoshida answered after being asked if the PlayStation 4 would block used games. Yoshida then spoke with his Japanese PR advisor. "So, used games can play on PS4," Yoshida said.

I'm not sure what Microsoft has in store, but with this and the fact PS4 can work with no internet, are just placing the PS4 at a better place for me than the next XBOX. MS Has to let gamers use used games, and let them play without internet. I don't mean to sound pessimistic but... NES (First Nintendo Console) Did great. SNES (Second Nintendo Console) Dominated. N64 (Third Nintendo Console) had good games, but did poor in sales next to the competiton because of bad desicions. PS (First Sony Console) Did great. PS2 (Second Sony Console) Dominated. PS3 (Third Sony Console) had good games, but did poor in sales next to the competiton because of bad desicions. I just have to wonder... XBOX (First Microsoft Console) Did alright. 360 (Second Microsoft Console) On it's way of becoming the most sold system in the 7th gen in the US, and is still doing GREAT after almost 8 years. 720 (Third Microsoft Console) will have good games, but will do poor in sales next to the competiton because of bad desicions. Really, I just wonder... Saturn, SEGA's third console was also their worst.

We don't know anything about the 720 but lets hope they don't go with always internet. They won't. They already know it's a bad move. Also we don't know what PS4 will have either for media.

@Kyuu I think that Fujioka means more in terms of how their systems are in comparison to the lasts I mean the ps3 has pulled back from a very weak start to take the number 2 spot world wide, but after the success of the PS2 I don't believe the PS3 carried the name as strong as it's older brothers. Whereas you then have the 360 which tripled the success of the first system and is still selling.

yeah that's good, sucks no BC though, I would like to get a ps4 and just be able to throw the ps3 in the closet with the ps2, ps1 in the system graveyard, to be hooked up and played later for nostalgia reasons.
