Rovio, the Angry Birds Space developer, has announced via Twitter that the game has been downloaded 10 million times in less than three days. The game launched on Thursday, March 22 and is available for the iOS, Android, MAC and PC.

Rovio was founded in 2003 and released the original Angry Birds game for the touchscreen smartphones in 2009. The game exploded in popularity in 2010 and continues to lead the smartphone game charts with its latest release Angry Birds Space.

Any breakdown on how many were free downloads vs. how many were paid? We keep hearing the DL numbers -- but a lot (like mine on my phone) were freebies. Mike from Morgantown

You're probably looking at the vast majority (90%) being free. Of course, its not truly free - Rovio uses ads rather effectively to generate income. Somewhere to the tune of $0.10/user per month.

Took me about 5 minutes to try and delete it from my Android phone. Nice concept tho.

Not surprised.

Some of these comments are just idiotic - You don't have to download and / or play the game if you don't like it folks! There's wanting more of what you like, which is fine, and then there's wanting what you DON'T like to be restricted, and honestly that's the definition of immaturity.

I too did, but this ones has let me down, i didn't expect from rovio to become a dlc whore and give only a few levels. Three world with only 90 levels total for the $ version. Another series that i will play...when i die.

Its fun for a few minutes at a time. Besides it was free.
