If this game mantains sales at 20k in a week in average , what i am not believe,, and if data from vgchartz is right, you need a four years to reach 10 milion, only in 2015. Just do the count. Anybody here really thinks that game can continue with 20k of average? Lets see but it is not stupid to suppose that game don't reach 10 milion. 4k1x3r You are right about that, but in week 28 the sales around 30K and continue in for a very long time. In week 50 stiil hold 30k. MAybe the theory of price cut is right, look GT4 data more closer in week 72 the game sales are 60k. But what is very different is the legs of the games. GT4 holds 30k every week or much than this in 150 weeks. The sales in USA and japan are more bigger (in week 28, to adjust the launch delay USA plus Japan have a 2.72 milion). Until now GT5 sales in japan plus usa are 2.3 milion. I think that game desacellerate very fast. But what nobody anwers to me how many copies the game can sell in EMEAA? How is the limit? Remember that PS3 is not a PS2. in 2005 PS2 have a 100 milion of consoles. PS3 have a half of this. Let's calculate again. Suppose that GT5 sales in USA are 2.9 milon and in japan 700k. 3.6 milion of copies USA plus Japan. To game reach 10 milion it's have to sell 6.4 milion in EMEAA. My question is the game can reach 6.4 milion in EMEAA? With most optmistic behaviour in USA and in Japan, it seems clear to me that the game don't reach 10 milion. In PS2 only two games sell more then 6.4 milion in EMEAA, GT4 and GTA san andreas. Right now the game in PS3 with more sales in EMEAA is black ops with 4.17 milion in EMEAA. I am wrong with some things as 4k1x3r says, but my question is PS3 is not PS2, the sales in EMEAA can reach 6.4 milion? I just do it because some people say that GT5 sell 10 milion no matter what, but it's not clear that the game reach 10 milion so easy. BUt it's a great sales no matter what and a good game. Wbalmant- I don't know whether you're serious or not, but you're comparing an aligned weeks launch with a differed weeks launch. Gt4 selling over 100k on week 18 is completely normal, there's like 14 weeks difference with the launch in Japan, it was like the 4 or 5th week in Emeaa and americas. Check the Emeaa and Americas chart when you're on the 18th week of GT4 and you'll understand why it's so high. I have a table, and on week 18 GT4 is anything but close to 100 when aligned, and that's what matters. Message | Report |

@Gearbox This is not completaly true in old versions of the game. GT4 sales in week 18 for example in america sells 1.53 milion of copies, in japan 1.06 milions and in EMEAA 2.53 milions. So the game sales in japan and in USA are great for GT4 and bad for GT5. IN week 18 the game sales are 100 k worldwide. I think that price cut is not valid argument, if you like of one game, you buy this no matter what. I think that GT4 don't have price cut and still sell 100k in week 18. So where the legs of GT5? I think that legs are burn. First of all the game is lauch in worldwide, GT4 not. And you have a pre-sales, much more great than in GT4 lauch. SO the game can Burnout in sales in first weeks. IN USA and in Japan the game reach the limit. The question now is how many copies this game will sell in EMEAA? MOre than COD BOPS? Maybe, But suppose that game sales in EMEAA are 1 milon ahead of COD BOPS, And COD BOPS sales 5 Milion in EMEAA, GT5 will sell 6 MIlion in EMEAA. ANd Suppose that game sells 2.5 milions of copies in Japan and in USA. The game reach only 8.5 milion in his lifetime. @dsage01 - halo reach is xbox exclusive that sells mostly in america. there are 31 million xboxs in america. gta sells in emeaa where there is only 23 million (8 million less) therefore halo reach will have better legs due to the fact that it is also a popular game with a larger audience. call of duty sells more for the xbox in america but less in emeaa when compared to the ps3 version. now, call of duty is a multiplatform therefore doubling the audience. it has appeal in both areas therefore its sales are divided semi evenly (with america being larger due to the fact that there are more consoles in that market) so, to compare this games legs you could look at cod:black ops EMEAA sales which is about 20k a week and gt5 emeaa sales which is about 15k a week is VERY good. any questions? @jester2358 Ok GT4 go to 10 milion. But this happen with 208 weeks. Not in one, two years but in 4,3 years, it's a lot of time with one big difference the ps2 sales are around 150 milion consoles. PS3 has one third of it. How many years PS3 can be alive? And i think the game are losing power. This week the game is not in top 40 and sales are just near 30k. GT4 for example sold in week 16 140k. In week 25 the GT4 holds 50 K. We don't see this moviment in GT5, the game has continuos drop week sales, if vgchatz is right. GT5 starts very well, but lose legs. Halo reach is a piece of shit, but the game sold 7.55 milion in week 16 and this week the game is top 20, but i am don't sure that the game reach 10 milion. It's hard to preview the future, but if nothing change much, i think is very dificult to game reach 10 milion. But what piss me off is the some people talk about 10 milion in 2012, the most selling game of PS3, but sorry no one reach black ops, and i think that in five or four years maybe can reach 10 milion, but how PS3 state in 2015? Ok let's talk again. I did some accounts and if vgchartz data is correct, GT5 will never get 10 milion. I assume that the game sell 30k in every week for 2 years or 96 weeks. It's clear that the game don't hold 30k for 2 years, but let's assume it. With this amazing sales, the game wiil reach only 8.9 milion of copies sales. For god sake how miracle can be done to game reach 10 milion??? Please tell me. This can be change if game is bundle with PS3, but i don't believe in this, this just happen with bad sales, not the case. With forza 3 they do this. This game is very good (not the best of all time, as i say below i know one hundred of games better than GT5) and the sales are amazing, the game reach 4th position in worldwide PS3 rank, sell more than uncharted 2, metal gear, final fantasy . It's a amazing, i think the game pass grand thief auto IV. But 10 milion? @wbalmant Dude, have you seen the newest updates? Sure the game will not be fun for some. Aren't there games out there that don't please you even though it does in the eyes of others? Of course, I know people who LOVE gt5 and people who don't. Another thing is that comparing COD to GT is not a very good comparison. GT games have legs, long ones. They last much longer than COD's, so the notion that because COD sells more in half the time means GT won't it silly. If you don't like the game well too bad, but I do. I don't know how vgchartz track the games data. But I trust more in a site than in poliphony digital. Same thing to kinetic. Microsoft talk about 8 mil in the end of december, but in vgchartz this is not true. But what i really don't understand is how the people here can like so much of one of wrost gran turismo. Just see the sales in japan is the worst result of all gran turismo. I like of the game, but is not a very fun experience, (in all gran turismo the fun is not the priority). This game is simulator. Every people that i know that have the game never do 100%. I think that with assists the game will be more easy, but it's not true, with assists the game continues to be very hard. And the game come with o lot of issues, you can't edit gears solely, just the final velocity, this is a simulator godamitt, how they lauch the game in this condition? I talk with my friend and he think that PD want to use the 7 processors of PS3 to boost the game, but probaly they problem with code, to program for 7 processors, the late is to adapt the code. The game is not from other world. Have a lot of cars, but only 200 is premium. The game don't have much tracks. Why the lauch is too late? I think it is a problem with hardware-software. But what piss-me off is the people that talk the game reach 10 M, as a profecy. Come on, none of PS3 games reach 10M. The most selling is MW2 with 9.1M. With vgchartz data the game sell only 60K in the end of week 10. MW2 sell 111k in the end of week 10 and don't get reach 10M, maybe never get 10M. GT5 have amazing sales but it's far far away from 10M. I think that in 4 weeks the sells goes to 20 or 30K to week. But it is a good game, but not the best game of all time. The game is the nr 1 ps3 exclusive on sales. It'll easily reach 8-9 Mil eventually and has a shot on 10 imo. GT games have some insane legs. I AM a GT fan since the original on the PS1, it's just sad to see that the franchise basically hasn't evolved in so many years. Music is absolute crap. Sounds are mediocre (some good ones, some bad ones), graphics are just insanely inconsistent. Standard cars look pathetic, shadows are sometimes acceptable, most of the time though extremely pixelated and other times even totally broken. Then when there's rain on the street (I'm guessing it's true for snow as well) and you're drafting someone, the rear of your car looks like if it was in 8-bit. 2D trees, invisible walls, bad collisions, no premium cars at the beginning (except for the cart...), some menu design flaws and the list goes on.... Of course it also does things right, but I feel that I didn't have that many complaints in GT5 Prologue and for the money, I think it was the better game. And that's what I meant with "still" disappointed. The reviews basically covered everything I said here, but once I saw it myself I still couldn't believe how many rookie mistakes they made. Considering the sales pattern, Sony should start regular bundling in Japan next Golden Week, while in America and EMEAA limited bundling and offers should be enough until after Xmas 2011 and regular bundling could start anytime looks most fit in 2012. Message | Report |

Your prediction makes sence, I disagree a bit, but I have nothing against you for it. I think 9.4, or something just under 10, but it's too early to tell who is right. W never know Sony may bundle GT5 like they did with GT3 and MS did with Forza 2 and 3. At least you can back up your argument, so I'm happy :D. On thing we do know is GT5 will be PS3's best selling exclusive title, ad it may very well be the best-selling PS3 title. DeOn - No GT4 sold 6.2 million copies When the 360 was released and still went on to sell another 4.4 million afterward. It was unaffected by the 360 launch, and I don't see why I would be. It wasn't selling too strongly at that point (40k weekly during November), but PS2 was around and selling so long, it let GT4 have legs. I get your point about big news cutting off sales, but I think those announcements have to target the GT audience. 360 didn't really target the GT4 PS2 audience and PS2 outsold the 360 for two years so I don't think attention shifted off GT too much. PS3 launch probably shifted attention, but that was three years after GT4, and very few games sell after that point. Message | Report |

Micheal-5, yes that's what im saying didnt gt4 basically already hit 10 mill when 360 launched? and that's when it basically stopped selling right? and if there is NO console until the holiday's of 2012 then gt5 would have all the time in the world to hit 10 mill and ok you are right about gow2 selling well but there was really nothing to shift focus or hamper it's sale'snow was there Micheal-5?..i believe if god of war 2 would have released a little bit before ps3's launch then it wouldnt have sold as much as it has to this day kinda like final fanasy 12...just like if gear's of war come's out a few week's before 720's launch then gear's 3 sale's will be hampered with..it would probably only reach 4.5-5 mill LTD (not the 6 mill it usually post's) but either way this is all what i THINK so dont get too stirred up in the way i predict thing's :)..either way i still think that gt5 can pull off 7M in emeaa,3.5M in america, and around 700k in Japan and you dont think that it will reach 10M so that's that :) Message | Report |

DeOn - Well the 360 came out almost 2 years after GT4. If you believe the 360 cut GT4's sales (A view I don't share), then the game had 21 months on the market before a successor console. If a Wii successor is released in holiday 2012, GT5 would have 24 months before the release of a next gen console. Granted GT5 gets the extra few weeks of this holiday season. Still God of War 2 was released after the launch of the PS3 and it sold almost as well as God of War 1, so I still don't share you opinion. Even then 3 months won't make that huge of a difference. DeOn Why would 360 cut off GT4's legs? PGR3 was not that big of a game and in the first year 360 was only really popular in Americas. GT sales are focused in EMEAA, and GT4 sold the most of all the GT's there. If anything, the popularity of Forza, and the release of Forza 4 will shift focus away from GT5 in at least Americas and hurt sales, but regardless these factors are minimal. GT5 could sell 10 million, I'm not saying it won't. I'm just saying a lot of people reading this thread are expecting GT5 to blow past GT4 sales by a large margin, and that just won't happen. GT5 is just matching GT4 sales in EMEAA and Americas and thats with the holiday boost. When sales drop, I can't picture this game holding up as well as GT4, or GT3. Besides a Wii successor is likely to be released in 2012, so your point is flawed as a Wii successor is a bigger deal then an Xbox 360. Message | Report |

I feel GT5 sales are inflated compared to GT4 because it was launched in the peak holiday season, and even then it's not selling that much more then GT4. @account metacritic doesn't represent the gaming industry. Game devs, publishers and such are the industry. All metacritic does is take scores from random sites, some credible some not, and average them out. GT5:P a demo? If Forza 3 had been released after GT5 it would have a lower metacritic as the driving model in GT5 is far superior and this would have been highlighted in comparison. GT has notable flaws that cant be denied and saying whether or not I played the game doesnt take those flaws away lol. Forza is now the king of sims since it not only releases FASTER then GT does now (3 Forzas this gen to ONE GT) but EVERY forza scored 90+ on metacritic. Tedious non-progression single player? You mention more content: NASCAR? FM3 has unpainted stock cars so you can paint whichever NASCAR drivers livery you want, and there is more ovals. WRC? Fair enough. Track editor? By all accounts it's severly limited. Night/day/rain? 24 Hour Le Mans did this 9 years ago on the Dreamcast. TurismoT said how do you know what it's like if you've never played. I use the reviews a game gets to evaluate a purchase.. duh. This could potentially be trending ahead of GT4 after next week. I'm confident in my prediction of 12 million. I doubt it...as the holiday should have bumped it up much higher than GT4. N/E ways Sony should still be able to recoup it's initial $60M investment in GT5. However, it'll be very slim seeing how other franchises had caught up with the GT series. (ie Forza) Message | Report |

Interestingly enough in just 12 days GT5 is only 20k off of being the most shipped GT game in Asia, and probably be #1 by the time Polyphony update their shipment page next quarter. Very disapointed by this game. 1000+ cars, but in fact bunch of same vehicles with different specs. Some huge classic missing (Lb Diablo, F50, F355, F360, CLK GTR, Carrera GT [Still no porches]) but some awesome old school cars and prototypes. Awful vegitation and slow menus. It's going to be a slow burner. No doubt it will not do shabby first week WW (1.5 million is my guess) but it will have great legs. For a PS3 game that is, nothing crazy like Kart Wii. The amount of features the game has though will only strengthen the franchise which is scary, no doubt the best selling PS3 title released. Message | Report |

The February 2010 had an exclusive 10 pages article about Gran Turismo 5 and a GT Planet user posted the scans on their forums.
