New Wii Pokemon Game in the Works? - News

At this year's CES, people from GamingUpdate caught up with some Nintendo representatives. Even though they didn't have any merchandise on display, they got talking about some things regarding Pokémon Black and White Versions. Evidently, once the conversation was nearing its end, a question that they didn't expect came up.

"What I want to know is will the Wii title that they are making that is similar to Gales of Darkness have full connectivity with Black and White?" was heard, to which they replied "What Wii title? This is the first we are hearing about that?"

Apparently, the game is in the works but has not been officially announced by Nintendo yet. If true, it is supposed to be a cross between Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness and Pokémon Battle Revolution, along with a single-player storyline like Pokémon Colosseum. Also, the game is not WiiWare, but a full-fledged retail Pokémon title.

For now, we should probably keep our hats on and see this as nothing more than a rumour, but hopefully we'll get some official info soon.

By the way, what constitutes a Pokémon game on Wii? I consider Battle Revolution one as well as Ranch and Rumble. Is there something I'm missing?

Well obviously they're making a new Pokemon game for Wii. Why wouldn't they?
It's one of the single most profitable and successful franchise in gaming, ever.
And don't think for a minute it'll be some sort of RPG/adventure game. Most likely, it'll be either a minigame compilation, or a Stadium-kind of game.

Umm, to me that sounds like an attempt to gain information on the possibility of a Wii title, not a confirmation one is being developed?

why Nintendo refuses to do a pokemon game on Wii is completely mind-boggling. much like many other decisions nintendo makes.

the truth is, a decent Wii game will be a billion dollar (additional) business for nintendo, but I guess Nintendo's headoffice refuses to want to make more money. shrugs
