Dungeons Announced: A Return to Evil-Inspired RTS - News
by VGChartz Staff , posted on 12 August 2010 / 3,806 ViewsIt's been a long time since evil has been the name of the game. Too often protagonists are hopelessly noble and valiant. There never was enough love shown for the evildoers.
Then came the Dungeon Keeper series from Bullfrog. With stylish graphics and an awesome sense of humor, being bad never felt so good. Unfortunately the studio closed in 2004, leaving little hope for a sequel.
Eleven years after the release of Dungeon Keeper 2, Kalypso Media has announced a return to the genre of RTS with a malevolent twist. Behold a return to evil with Dungeons, scheduled for release Q1 2011.

In Dungeons, the character assumes the role of the foremost of all Dungeon Lords, who spends his time trapping, torturing, and killing any hapless hero that ventures into his domain. After falling victim to a plot hatched by his evil ex-girlfriend, the Dungeon Lord must get revenge and fight his way back to the top of the Dungeon Lord ladder.
The title has the Dungeon Lord working under three rival Dungeon Lords, who aim to make his life as miserable as possible with inane and pointless tasks. With only his beginning army of goblins and his thirst for vengeance, the fallen Dungeon Lord makes his way toward sweet, sweet revenge.
According to the press release, Dungeons will host 20 different campaign levels featuring 10 rival hero classes and 15 "friendly" monster types.
The title will be playable at GamesCom which runs Aug 18-22 in Cologne, Germany.

I waited eleven long years for a Dungeon Keeper successor. It is still one of my most favorite games OF ALL TIME. Press call a doctor, because I'm abaout to collapse out of joy.
From the way it looks, I'd definitely say it's more DK than Overlord. I'm thinking it will have the different rooms to build to attract different monsters or keep them fed and entertained. Hopefully they allow you to take control of a minion in first-person like in DK so you can be involved in battles directly too.
this sounds almost more like overlord... besides an army, will you have rooms? as in an RTS building?
I loved Dungeon Keeper 2 back in the day, and all of Bullfrog's work. Can't wait to see how this turns out!!!
