VGChartz Methodology: Hardware estimates are based on retail sampling and trends in individual countries, which are then extrapolated to represent the wider region. This typically allows us to produce figures that end up being within 10% of the actual totals.

This data is regularly compared against official shipment figures released by the console manufacturers and figures estimated by regional trackers with greater market coverage than ourselves. We then update our own estimates to bring them into line with those figures. This can result in frequent changes often within a short space of time, but we feel it's important to prioritise accuracy over consistency.

Note that our estimates are based on sell-through data (units sold to consumers). In almost all cases the figures released by console manufacturers are based on shipment data (sell-in), where as soon as a device has left the factory and entered the supply chain for delivery it is considered a sale. This is why there is always a difference between the companies’ figures (sell-in) and VGChartz estimates (sell-through), even after we’ve made adjustments. The one exception to that is when a console has been discontinued and the remaining stock has finally sold out – at that point the figures will match.

The PS5 surpassed the global sales of the NES and the Xbox of the Atari 2600. Next Stop: Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 64

Nintendo 64 sold like 30 something million worldwide. PS5 outsold that ages ago.

The $375 PS5 Digital Slim and the $425 Disc Slim will do great numbers for November

$349 and $399 would do just that much better. Get both SKU's under $400 and leave them there and watch sales continually climb back to where they should be.

Zelda didn't even make a dent in NSW sales! Little bit shocked...tho at the same time, TotK prolly captured the entire market of potential Zelda consumers.

NSW with >700k & PS5 with nearly 1mil WW is a very pleasing site. :) Industry had been stagnant for a big chunk of 2024, so I'm glad to see things start returning to levels comparable to last year.

NSW is almost 800k for the month, and PS5 is 1.03M for the month .. you probably don't add up the rest of world numbers, which are not presented on the top page .. XBSX is almost 300K.
Also the dent for the Switch was there .. it was selling between 140 and 160k weekly, and the week Zelda launched, it sold over 190k, so a bump of 30 to 50k is something.

ah, I was guess-imating WW figures (>700k NSW, >1mil PS5, >300k XBSX). Where do you already see "rest of the world" numbers?
(also, should've been more clear: EoW didn't even make a dent in USA/NA. Looks like figures didn't change at all, unless I'm misreading?? (Which is very possible lol.))

You can see all numbers combined into hardware by date, I am not getting ROW, just thought you adding the numbers on the top page, and there the ROW are not listed. Even in US, the sales got a small bump of around 10K for the week ending September 28th. But yeah .. overall it's little to no boost, normal for not a main AAA title in the 8th year of the console's life.

i think most zelda fans already own a switch? what are the zelda echos sales numbers??

The Switch is basically at market saturation. That it's still selling this well almost eight years after it launched is pretty amazing.

Not sure what people were expecting from EoW. It was never going to do TOTK or BOTW numbers.
